BroadwayCon Releases 2020 Schedule Preview

BroadwayCon has unveiled a first look at its programming schedule for BroadwayCon 2020. The BroadwayCon 2020 schedule features three days packed with events curated with Broadway's biggest fans, performers, and creators in mind. BroadwayCon celebrates its fifth year in 2020, returning to the New York Hilton Midtown on Friday, January 24 through Sunday, January 26. Tickets are on sale now at BroadwayCon.com/register.

Live & In Color Now Accepting Submissions For New Plays And Musicals

Live & In Color, located in Salem, CT, is looking for playwrights, composers, and lyricists of color and/or other underrepresented communities interested in developing a new musical or play during their annual fall retreat in September 2020. The work must be able to be performed with a multiethnic cast. Submission deadline is March 1st, 2020. For all submission requirements and how to submit, visit www.theatreincolor.org.

The mixed cast of adults and children includes Farah Alvin (It Shoulda Been You), Kennedy Kanagawa, Graham Stevens, Brandi Porter, Benjamin Barham-Wiese, Devin Trey Campbell (Kinky Boots), Brandon Chosed, Charlotte MacLeod and Lauren Park. Directed by Devanand Janki; music directed by Yan Li.

Live & In Color Presents THE GOLDEN THRESHOLD, A New Musical In Development

As Live & In Color's 2019 fall retreat wraps up, the theatre company will be presenting staged readings of 'The Golden Threshold', a new musical in development on Saturday, September 21st and Sunday, September 22nd, 2019 at the Bingham Camp in Salem, CT. Set in 1930 British India, 'The Golden Threshold' follows two young women named Maya and Harini as they join Mahatma Gandhi's revolutionary protest known as the Salt March; one woman to avoid an arranged marriage, the other to free her nation. The score features a fusion of contemporary musical theatre with traditional Indian music elements. This new musical features book & music by Cheeyang Ng and book & lyrics by Eric Sorrels. The production is directed by Arpita Mukherjee, artistic director of the Hypokrit Theatre Company and the festival chair for New York's Tamasha: A Festival for South Asian Performing Arts. The cast features Brian Myers Cooper* (Irwin / Viceroy), Kuhoo Verma* (Maya), Kimberly Chatterjee* (Harini), Meetu Chilana* (Mummy), Sorab Wadia* (Papa), Cameron Nies (Lawrence), and Jamen Nanthakumar* (Devaraj). Musical direction is by Alyssa Kay Thompson

Live & In Color To Develop New Musical THE GOLDEN THRESHOLD And New Play NARROW DAYLIGHT For 2019 Season In Salem, CT

Artistic Director Devanand Janki continues to gather a diverse group of New York theatre professionals at the Bingham Camp in Salem, Connecticut to develop new works with his theatre company, Live & In Color. Now entering their 5th annual artistic residency, Live & In Color is an innovative theatrical program during which artists spend time in a rural setting creating work that gives voice to underrepresented communities onstage.

BWW Review: MAN OF LA MANCHA at the John W. Engeman Theatre lead by Janet Dacal, Richard Todd Adams, and Carlos Lopez

Northport's gorgeous John W. Engeman Theatre does it again with a stellar showing of theatre staple Man Of La Mancha, the second show of their dazzling 12th Season. This incarnation of the Tony winner, running through October 28th, is excellently directed by Peter Flynn and boasts an extraordinary cast. Long Island is certainly lucky to have this production lead by Broadway vets Janet Dacal, Richard Todd Adams, and Carlos Lopez.
