In the Spring of 2001 playwright Patrick Riviere finished the first draft of his play The House of Nunzio. It was not his first play, but his first in years. By the fall of 2003, the full-length play described as a 'humorous drama' had been named a semi-finalist in two national playwriting competitions, had been given a reading at Manhattan Theatre Club Studios and was selected for a developmental workshop at Manhattan Theatre Source. It seemed as if the play was destined for a world premiere and yet the playwright struggled to find anyone who wanted to produce it, despite the accolades and preliminary interest from some theaters. Now in its 9th consecutive year on the Outer Cape, where, from conception to curtains, 8 original short plays are written, cast, and staged all within a 24 hour time limit, The 24 Hour Plays: Provincetown will be presented at 7:30pm on Saturday, February 16th and at a special "encore performance" at 2pm on Sunday, February 17th at the Provincetown Theater, 238 Bradford Street, Provincetown, MA 02657. Legendary Vocal Group The Coasters Bring Their Early Rock and Roll Hits to The Ridgefield Playhouse on 1/14

With hits like "Yakety Yak," "Poison Ivy," "Searchin" and "Charlie Brown" The Coasters cemented their place in Rock and Roll history, and in 1987 became the first vocal group inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.  The Coasters will take the stage of The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, January 14 at 8 pm as part of the Pepsi Rock Series Powered by Xfinity.  The Coasters now consist of four very talented singers handpicked to continue the legacy; Joe Lance Williams, Dennis Anderson, Primo Candelaria and Eddie Whitfield, all with musical backgrounds; along with Ray Sabatello (Guitarist, and new Music Director who was one of the musicians on The 2014-15 National Tour of Smokey Joe's Cafe). If you want a high-energy show, Smokey Joe's Café is definitely for you. The musical revue, on Broadway from 1995-2000, highlights the music of songwriting team Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The spectacle has forty of their hit songs done back to back including 'Love Potion Number 9', 'Yakity Yak', 'Stand By Me' and 'Jailhouse Rock'. Last night, 92Y celebrated songwriting legend Mike Stoller on the occasion of his 80th year with An 80th Birthday Celebration, a one-night-only Lyrics & Lyricists Special Event hosted by Paul Shaffer and directed and written by Randy Johnson (director/writer of A Night withJanis Joplin). Performers included: legendary vocal group The Coasters, along with artists Karen Akers,Mary Bridget Davies, Corky Hale, Maria Elena Infantino,Sally Kellerman, Bettye Lavette, Melissa Manchester, Billy Stritch, Tommy Tune and Steve Tyrell. Backed by Tyrell's band, the artists performed some of the greatest songs written by Stoller with his longtime lyricist partner Jerry Leiber and others. Check out photos from the special event below!
