'City of Angels,' a version of which is now on stage at Beck Center, opened on Broadway in December of 1989 and ran through January, 1992, in a healthy run of almost 900 performances. Lakewood's Dee Hoty, a three-time Tony nominee, played a leading role in the Great White Way run.

The Blue Hill Troupe, now in its 93rd season, brings “City of Angels” back to the stage. Set in the glamorous, seductive Hollywood of the 40s, the world of film studios and flimsy negligees, “City of Angels” chronicles the misadventures of Stine, a young novelist, attempting to write a screenplay of one of his detective novels. Each scene he writes comes to life on stage, starring his hardboiled detective alter-ego, Stone. As Stone's life in the film plot gets more complicated, so does Stine's personal and professional life, until the point when the two plots intersect.  The amazing double score and story do what all good movies should, eventually winding up to two happy endings.

Laura Heywood (@BroadwayGirlNYC) has confirmed to BroadwayWorld that at the Bright Star concert tonight, music supervisor Peter Asher confirmed that the production will tour in 2018, beginning in Salt Lake City. No further details on dates or casting have yet been announced.

The Fred Ebb Foundation just presented the twelfth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore, last night in the Penthouse Lounge of The American Airlines Theater.

See 'A Lion in Winter' at Two River Theater through December 4th. Written by James Goldman, the play features superb direction by Tyne Rafaeli and an outstanding cast. This is an ideal show to herald the holiday season.

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, presents James Goldman's The Lion in Winter, directed by Tyne Rafaeli.
