Cortland Repertory Theatre closes their 47th annual summer season of professional live theatre with the regional premiere of the musical "The Rat Pack Lounge"

Who ever thought a man's prostate problems could put audiences in stitches?  That's exactly what actor Ed Asner is doing in his new one-man show, "A Man and His Prostate," written by Ed. Weinberger.

In celebration of Italian history month the 'American Popular Song Society' presents the music of Harry Warren (Salvatore Guaragna), a composer of Italian descent and major contributor to the Great American Songbook.

For those too young to remember the vaudevillian style lounge shows popular in the 50s and 60s in Las Vegas, where an iconic and often talented performer in their own right hosted other acts to keep gamblers entertained as they visited the lounge bar for a drink, looked for a companion for the night, or needed time to recover from a huge loss at the tables, you can now experience a little bit of old Vegas, right here in Hollywood. And I can tell you, I don't remember laughing as hard as I did the night I attended THE TONY MARTINI VARIETY HOUR at Three Clubs Cocktail Lounge, rumored to be the exact same place where Frank Sinatra would hang out with his assorted Rat Pack buddies, friends, and lovers during their own Las Vegas heyday. And that vibe still exists in the room where those great entertainers wowed the crowds so many years ago.

Dean Wareham (Galaxie 500, Luna) and Cheval Sombre will release their 'western dreampop'  LP, Dean Wareham Vs. Cheval Sombre, on October 26 via Double Feature Records.  Today they share the first single, 'Wayfaring Stranger ' which premiered viaStereogum who note, 'Wareham and Sombre's take on the tune moves with a slow, trembling hum. Wareham's voice carries the wistful depression of a traveler. The song's production feels both vintage and contemporarily dreamy.' Of the accompanying video directed by Jonathan Bree (Brunettes) Wareham notes, 'Jonathan is one of my favorite musical artists, and has made some slyly funny videos the last couple of years. He shot the video for 'Wayfaring Stranger', and suggested that I should wear Wayfarer sunglasses. I was too scared to ride a real horse so we made a pretend-horse from a stool and a pillow.'

Country music icon Martina McBride is not letting the Nashville summer heat ruin her Christmas spirt, and begins her gift giving with the release of It's The Holiday Season.  The 9-song holiday set will be released on October 19, the first with her new record label partner, BMG.  McBride also continues her “The Joy of Christmas Tour” tradition, this time adding songs from the new album and bringing to life the big band and orchestral sounds by using local symphonies on each stop.  In addition, she will be adding more spice into that mix, by releasing a second all-season cookbook, Martina's Kitchen Mix: My Recipe Playlist For Real Life, available October 30th.

The summer may be drawing to a close but the celebrations needn't end there, with another fabulous live music line-up set to hit the Belgrade Theatre in September. This autumn, the Belgrade will be seeing in a brand new season with an eclectic mix of vintage swing, rock 'n' roll, toe-tapping hooley and 80s pop classics.

Four-time Helpmann Award-winner and actor, director and singer, Mitchell Butel will be at Ensemble Theatre for three nights only to sing a set of signature songs by Tony Bennett, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.
