Ed Asner Brings A MAN AND HIS PROSTATE to The Ridgefield Playhouse

Ed Asner stars in A Man and His Prostate, a compelling comedy stage-play and true life experience of hilarious magnitude, written by Emmy Award-winner Ed Weinberger. Asner, who has never shaken the curmudgeon personality that won us all over on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," executes this task so well that it is only when you read the fine print that you realize that A Man And His Prostate is not Asner's personal story. Don't miss Ed Asner's return to The Ridgefield Playhouse stage in a special early performance of A Man and His Prostate on Sunday, September 30 at 4pm, part of the Ridgefield Magazine Broadway & Cabaret Series and sponsored by RVNA. Visit Luna Rossa (90 Danbury Rd ~ Ridgefield) for dinner the night of the show and enjoy their pre-theater, 3-course pre-fixe menu when you show your ticket. Call to make your reservation 203.403.3974. Media sponsor for this event is 94.1FM WLAD, Talk News & Sports.

Ed Weinberger is a fortunate man. Not only did he survive a bout with bladder stones and his prostate while on vacation in Italy, he has Ed Asner - raconteur extraordinaire - on hand to tell the tale. One of the most outstanding and most respected actors of his generation, equally adept at comedy as he is at drama, seven-time Emmy Award-winning actor, Asner has left his mark on American audiences with his indelible performance as Lou Grant in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and (after that show's success) starring in a spinoff in the series "Lou Grant." He has shown his range in films like Elf -- he played Santa -- and JFK, as the notorious Guy Bannister. His distinctive voice has starred as well in many animated features such as Pixar's Up. He has no less than 350 credits listed in IMDB and at 88 years old, he has no plans to quit yet!

Ed Weinberger wrote for comedy legend Bob Hope, while also plying his craft for stand-up comics Richard Pryor and Dick Gregory. Additionally, Weinberger put his writing skills to work on television for "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson," "The Cosby Show," "The Dean Martin Show" and "Taxi." A Man and His Prostate is based on Weinberger's true-life experience that occurred while vacationing in Italy.
