On Friday, February 8, 2019, Bearthoven (Karl Larson, piano; Pat Swoboda, double bass; and Matt Evans, percussion) releases its second album American Dream on Cantaloupe Music. The album features the works of composer Scott Wollschleger,including his Gas Station Canon Song, American Dream, and We See Things That Are Not There. On release day, Friday, February 8, 2019 at 8pm, Bearthoven performs an American Dream release show at the Tenri Cultural Institute in NYC.

The Marie-Josee Kravis Prize for New Music at the New York Philharmonic, which recognizes a composer for extraordinary artistic endeavor in the field of new music, has been awarded to South Korean composer Unsuk Chin. One of the world's largest new-music prizes, the Kravis Prize includes $200,000 and a commission to write a work for the New York Philharmonic. Ms. Chin's new orchestral work will receive its World Premiere by the Philharmonic in a future season. Funding for the Kravis Prize comes from a $10 million gift to the New York Philharmonic in 2009 by Henry R. Kravis in honor of his wife, Marie-Josee, for whom the Prize is named. Past Prize winners include Henri Dutilleux, Per Norgard, and Louis Andriessen.
For six consecutive nights, October 3-7, 2018, 1,000 singers from across New York City will come together on the High Line for the first-ever performances of The Mile-Long Opera: a biography of 7 o'clock. Audience members will be active participants in this ambitious, collective, free choral work. As they move along the park, in and out of groups of singers, audience members will immerse themselves in hundreds of stories inspired by the accounts of a wide range of New Yorkers, about life in our rapidly changing city.
