Beach, Hoty & Lewis To Lead Music Circus Season

Casting for the 60th Music Circus season is nearing completion. After auditioning performers in New York, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre Artistic Director Glenn Casale is finalizing the acting company for the seven-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. The company is expected to include Broadway veterans, including Tony Award nominees, television comedians, up-and-coming young actors and plenty of returning Music Circus favorites. Beach, Hoty, et al to Appear in Sacramento Music Circus 2010 Season

Sacramento Music Circus has announced the casting for its sixtieth summer season. The seven-show season will include the Music Circus premieres of 'Spamalot,' 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' and 'The Marvelous Wonderettes' and new stagings of 'Oklahoma!,' 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,' '42nd Street' and 'Funny Girl,' the latter returning to Music Circus after an 18-year absence.

Davis Gaines Joins Musical Theatre West's 1776

Davis Gaines, known by most Southern California theatergoers for his portrayal of the titular character in Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, will be joining the previously announced Steven Glaudini (John Adams) and Tami Tappan Damiano (Abigail Adams) as Richard Henry Lee, of Virginia in 1776.

ORIGINAL CAST, the 26th Annual musical presentation of the Southland Theatre Artists Goodwill Event (S.T.A.G.E.), took place for one night only on Saturday, May 1 at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex of California State University, raising money for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA).

Boston's IRNE Awards Honors York, Paulus, Leon et al.

On Monday, April 19, the Boston Center for the Arts Cyclorama hosted the 2009-2010 IRNE Awards ceremony, honoring the best in Boston theater. A party for all of the nominees was held from 7-8 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony. Many Broadway names were honored, including actress Rachel York and directors Diane Paulus and Kenny Leon.
