The Huntington Theatre Company presents a provocative new drama A Guide for the Homesick, by Huntington Playwriting Fellow Ken Urban and directed by Tony Award nominee Colman Domingo (Dragon King in Journey to the West and Jim in Well at the Huntington, Mr. Bones in The Scottsboro Boys on Broadway, and Victor Strand in AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead").

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) Artistic Director Barbara Gaines stages Shakespeare's raucous comedy The Taming of the Shrew with a powerhouse, all-woman cast-setting up a witty and thought-provoking debate on politics, power, and love. Framed as a performance by a band of Suffragettes with additional dialogue by Second City's Ron West, The Taming of the Shrew launches Chicago Shakespeare's 2017/18 Season in the Courtyard Theater, September 16-November 12, 2017.

The New Harmony Project announced today that it is now accepting submissions for the 32nd annual conference in May of 2018. Since 1986, the secluded town of New Harmony, Indiana has hosted artists from around the world for two-weeks of dedicated script development. Last weekend, CityRep opened MR. BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY at the downtown Civic Center. A co-production with Oklahoma City University, featuring up-and-coming student artists and professional Equity actors on equal footing, the CityRep production of Anne Washburn's delightfully unconventional script is one of my favorite shows the company has produced in recent memory. CityRep has a hit on their hands. I hope the lack of familiarity with the title doesn't discourage audience attendance-this play is one of the most-produced in regional theaters around the country this season, and for good reason. The only drawback is that the play is only around for one more weekend. I applaud CityRep and OCU for introducing such thought-provoking art to the heartland, and hope you, dear reader, flock to the theater in droves to experience the magic.
