An Open Letter has been written to Oliver Dowden, Secretary of State for Culture, from black, Asian, and ethnically diverse theatre artistic directors and cultural leaders. The letter was written to emphasize the importance of protecting representation in the sector.

CW Seed, The CW's free, ad-supported digital network, has acquired the second window, non-exclusive streaming rights to 14 series from BBC Studios. The pact will bring more than 200 episodes and 150 hours of scripted library content to the platform. On the heels of the second season pick up of critically- acclaimed BOOMERANG series BET Networks announces continued partnership with Lena Waithe as it green lights her single-camera comedy series “Twenties.” Created and written by Waithe when she was in her early 20s the eight-episode half-hour series, follows the adventures of a queer black girl, Hattie, and her two straight best friends, Marie and Nia, who spend most of their days talking 'ish' and chasing their dreams. “Twenties” is a scripted show about friendship, finding love, and messing everything up along the way.

Disney announced today that Academy Award®-nominated and SAG® winner “Black Panther” will return to the big screen to celebrate Black History Month for a one-week engagement, February 1-7, at 250 participating AMC Theatres locations. To ensure that the movie is accessible to all, tickets are free for everyone, and there will be two showings per day at each participating theater.

The UK's leading film critics today announced the nominations for the 39th annual London Critics' Circle Film Awards presented by Dover Street Entertainment. Yorgos Lanthimos' black comedy The Favourite was out front with 10 nominations, including Film, Director, Screenwriter, Actress for Olivia Colman and Supporting Actress for Rachel Weisz. In addition, the film is nominated for British/Irish Film of the Year.
