In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 36 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2016 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 19 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration. Composer Paola Prestini, the Creative and Executive Director of National Sawdust (NS), today announced programming for the non-profit's inaugural fall season in its new home-a $16 million, 13,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art chamber hall in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The performance and recording venue, designed by Brooklyn-based architecture firm Bureau V in the shell of century-old former sawdust factory, will provide composers and musicians a setting in which they can flourish, and a place where they are given commissioning support, mentoring and other critical resources essential to create, and then share, their work. For audiences-serious fans and casual listeners alike-the venue will be a place to discover genre-spanning music at accessible ticket prices.
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) raised a record $10.4 million last night at its Spring Gala honoring Hearst Corporation, as announced by Katherine Farley, chair of Lincoln Center. The event, attended by more than 500 people, lauded Hearst President and CEO Steven R. Swartz, and Executive Vice-chairman and former CEO, Frank A. Bennack, Jr. for the enormous and varied contributions to Lincoln Center made by them as well as by their company. Both men serve on Lincoln Center's Board of Directors; Mr. Bennack was chairman of Lincoln Center from 2005 through 2010, and Mr. Swartz is currently chairman of Lincoln Center's Corporate Fund.
The Collegiate Chorale raised more than $300,000 at its annual Spring Benefit featuring the U.S. premiere of Kurt Weill and Franz Werfel's The Road of Promise at Carnegie Hall on May 7, 2015. Proceeds will go toward The Chorale's artistic and education initiatives.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the third annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series. The series will celebrate seven critically-acclaimed seasons of Roundabout Underground productions.
