The Geffen Playhouse today announced the full cast for its Los Angeles Premiere production of Skeleton Crew, the third and final installment in Dominique Morisseau's award-winning three-play cycle, The Detroit Project. The play features Amari Cheatom (Roman J. Israel, Esq.) as Dez, Caroline Stefanie Clay (Broadway's The Little Foxes) as Faye, Kelly McCreary (Grey's Anatomy) as Shanita and D.B. Woodside (Lucifer) as Reggie. Patricia McGregor will direct.

Peak Performances Presents Inbal Oshman's M STABAT MATER

Peak Performances presents M Stabat Mater, a choreographic exploration of motherhood from Inbal Oshman. With a title that encompasses "M," the most common sound in the word for "mother" within languages all over the world, M Stabat Mater probes the joys and sorrows of the experience. Oshman's piece, set to baroque music, explores the vulnerability and tenderness required of mothers, and the strength and ferocity that come with the territory. She borrows from the mythological mothers of history, including the Mary of Christianity, the violent Hindu goddess Kali, and the Four Matriarchs of the Old Testament: Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah. New York Baroque Incorporated, one of the ensembles responsible for "the fast-growing vitality of the early music scene in New York" (the New York Times), performs Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's 1736 piece Stabat Mater live on period instruments.

Audra McDonald Will Headline New York Philharmonic's Spring Gala

The New York Philharmonic's annual Spring Gala will feature Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award-winning singer and actress Audra McDonald performing songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Bernstein, and Sondheim, as well as works by other composers - both established and emerging - whom she continues to champion. The performance will mark both her first reunion with the New York Philharmonic in more than four years and her first major solo concert in New York City since 2015. Andy Einhorn, a Broadway conductor and Ms. McDonald's long-time music director, will conduct the performance, Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.

The Old Globe today announced it will present the fifth annual Powers New Voices Festival, a weekend of readings of new American plays by professional playwrights, playing January 12 14, 2018. The festival will kick off today, January 12 at 7:30 p.m. with Voices of the Community: Celebrating Local Playwrights, an evening of work created by San Diego residents through the Globe's arts engagement initiatives Community Voices and coLAB, and will continue with four readings by some of the most exciting voices writing for the American theatre today. The new American play readings commence on Saturday, January 13 at 4:00 p.m. with Laurel Ollstein's They Promised Her the Moon, directed by Giovanna Sardelli (Somewhere, The Whipping Man at the Globe), followed at 7:30 p.m. by Too Heavy for Your Pocket by Jir h Breon Holder, directed by Patricia McGregor (Globe for All's Measure for Measure).The Festival continues on Sunday, January 14 at 3:00 p.m. with The Tale of Despereaux, with book, music, and lyrics by PigPen Theatre Co. (The Old Man and The Old Moon at the Globe), based on the novel by Kate DiCamillo and the Universal Pictures animated motion picture. Composer Joseph Rubinstein and Librettist Jason Kim Receive Latest Opera Genesis Fellowships

The Hermitage Artist Retreat in Englewood, FL and New York City's American Opera Projects (AOP) announce the second Opera Genesis Fellowships to composer Joseph N. Rubinstein and librettist Jason Kim. The award includes a six-week Hermitage residency, in which these two artists will work on their new opera Legendary, about the drag balls of the 1980s in New York City. The Opera Genesis Fellowship awards are presented annually to artists who have completed training in AOP's Composer & the Voice (C&V) training program which helps to develop contemporary American opera.

Newly appointed music director Michael Repper leads the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra in its 55th season opening concert on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 2:00pm at Carnegie Hall, Stern Auditorium/Perelman stage. The program marks Mr. Repper's Carnegie Hall debut as conductor, and will feature Roy & Shirley Durst Debut Artist Christine Lamprea, performing Schumann's Cello Concerto in A minor, op. 129.
