Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announce that the Tony & Grammy Award-winning Broadway hit BEAUTIFUL-The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter will return to Los Angeles for three weeks at Hollywood Pantages Theatre.

Neglected Musicals in association with Hayes Theatre Co will present BIG RIVER at Hayes Theatre Co from Wednesday 18 April for six presentations only. Directed by Ellen Simpson, this musical is based on Mark Twain's classic 1884 novel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the musical features music in the bluegrass and country styles in keeping with the setting of the novel.

BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL playing right now at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) is the most jukebox of juke box musicals. With a book by Douglas McGrath, it tells the story of King's life and career using songs that she wrote, often together wither sometimes partner and spouse Gerry Goffin, and other contemporary songs by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, Phil Spector and others. What makes it the 'most juke box?' In a play that runs two and a half hours (including intermission), the very talented cast performs over twenty-five songs. Why so many songs? It's a play about songwriters whose best friends are songwriters, who among them wrote some of the most popular songs of the sixties and seventies. With so many songs to cover, McGrath let the music carry the first act and left the story of King's metamorphosis from composer to singer songwriter to Act 2. Somebody is doing something right because BEAUTIFUL opened on Broadway in January of 2014 and has been running ever since. This stop in Providence is the second in our fair city since it went on tour in 2015. As near as I could tell, everybody present had a helluva time last night.

Grammy Award-winner and two time Emmy nominee Steve Tyrell returns to Cafe Carlyle, April 10-14. Steve Tyrell just celebrated thirteen years of sold out Cafe residencies in the revered holiday slot, having taken over for Bobby Short in 2005. His new album, A Song For You, is out on February 9 via New Design Records and East/West Records. The 12-track release features Tyrell's takes on classic love songs by Van Morrison, Leon Russell, Jackie Wilson, Harold Arlen & Johnny Mercer and more. A Song For You furthers Tyrell's vision of bridging songwriting from the rock era with that of the standards era, placing at its core the fundamental immortality of great songwriting. He'll perform selections from A Song For Youduring this run of shows.

It takes one to know one and radio Legend Dick Robinson, a hero to all who love the Great American Songbook presented  another legend, Steve Tyrell, a true icon of the music world with the prestigious Legends Award at the Essey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College last night. It was Legends Radio's 4th Birthday Celebration and radio hosts Jill & Rich Switzer, Walt Pinto, Lorna O'Connell, and Mike McGann were also heard 'live' in the Essey Theatre, which was filled with listeners of Legends 100.3FM.

I think we all felt the earth move a little bit at Clowes Hall this week. Beautiful, the musical of Carol King's life, is on stage now. The singer/composer famous for hits like 'It's Too Late' and 'You've Got a Friend' had a incredible career and the musical chronicles her rise to stardom in the 1960s.

The National Tour, which launched at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) in the fall of 2015, returns to PPAC February 27 March 4, 2018 as a Broadway Special.

Today we celebrate the Broadway anniversary of the hit bio-musical, Beautiful: The Carole King Story, which opened on this day in 2014.
