Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest will be leading My Oxford Year, a romance feature for Netflix. The film will be written by Allison Burnett and directed by Iain Morris. My Oxford Year is based on a novel by Julia Whelan, which itself is adapted from Burnett’s original screenplay.
Full cast and creative team has been announced for the production which will open in previews at Wyndham’s Theatre on 21 October, with a press night on 31 October. The final performance in London will be on 9 December. In autumn 2024 the production will transfer to The Shed’s Griffin Theater in New York.
Netflix stars including Henry Cavill (The Witcher), Gal Gadot (Heart of Stone), Chris Hemsworth (Extraction 2), Arnold Schwarzenegger (FUBAR) and more hit the stage. Netflix has released a music video with rapper and “Queen of Bounce Music”, Big Freedia remixing Netflix's Strong Black Lead series 'Hey Queen' just in time for the release of Netflix and Shondaland’s Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. This video also serves as a nod to the significance of HBCU royal court culture.
Centered on Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen's marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton. Netflix and Shondaland today announced the cast of the limited series based on the origins of the historical figure Queen Charlotte. While the project is untitled, the series centers on the rise and love life of a young Queen Charlotte, it will also focus on Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.
