A Muse-ic Lesson: Counting Down the Best Songs in Stage-Bound HERCULES!

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, The Public Theater will conclude its summer season at the Delacorte Theatre with free performances of the Public Works' musical adaptation of HERCULES (August 31-September 8), with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by David Zippel, book by Kristoffer Diaz, and directed by Lear deBessonet. 

Carla R. Stewart Joins Tori Sampson's IF PRETTY HURTS...

Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director Tim Sanford, Managing Director Leslie Marcus) has announced that Carla R. Stewart (Broadway, National Tour, and Regional: The Color Purple) will play The Voice of the River in the world premiere production of Tori Sampson's If Pretty Hurts Ugly Must Be a Muhf**ka, directed by Obie winner Leah C. Gardiner (Born Bad) and choreographed by Raja Feather Kelly. Performances begin Today, February 15, and continue through March 31 in the Mainstage Theater at Playwrights Horizons (416 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036). The production opens officially on the evening of Sunday, March 10.

Public Theater's 2019 Shakespeare in the Park Season Will Include MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, CORIOLANUS and HERCULES!

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced the line-up today for the 2019 Free Shakespeare in the Park season, continuing a 57-year tradition of free theater in Central Park. Since 1962, over five million people have enjoyed more than 150 free productions of Shakespeare and other classical works and musicals at the Delacorte Theater. Conceived by founder Joseph Papp as a way to make great theater accessible to all, The Public's Free Shakespeare in the Park continues to be the bedrock of the Company's mission to increase access and engage the community.

FAIRVIEW Returns To New York City

Jeffrey Horowitz announces that TFANA will extend its current four-play season to five plays and present Soho Rep.'s production of Jackie Sibblies Drury's Fairview, staged by Sarah Benson. Fairview will play June 2-30, 2019, on the Samuel H. Scripps Mainstage at Polonsky Shakespeare Center, TFANA's state-of-the-art home in the Brooklyn Cultural District. The return engagement marks the first opportunity for New York audiences to experience this bold, innovative work since its sold-out, thrice-extended world premiere at Soho Rep. Fairview is currently only on sale as part of TFANA's two-play subscription package of Fairview and Julius Caesar.

THE CHER SHOW Announces New Block Of Tickets Through October 13

Producers Flody Suarez and Jeffrey Seller announced today that a new block of tickets for the Broadway production of the new musical The Cher Show goes on sale today at 10am ET. Tickets for The Cher Show are available at www.TheCherShowBroadway.com or www.Ticketmaster.com (877-250-2929). Ticket prices range from $59 - $169. Premium tickets range from $199 - $299. Tickets are currently on sale through Sunday, October 13, 2019.

CHOIR BOY Extends Broadway Run Through March 10th

Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway premiere of Choir Boy, by Tarell Alvin McCraney and directed by Trip Cullman, will extend for two additional weeks, now playing through Sunday, March 10 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
