THE SEAFARER Starring Matthew Broderick Extends at Irish Rep

Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director and Ciaran O'Reilly, Producing Director) announced today an extension for THE SEAFARER, starring two-time Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick (Shining City). THE SEAFARER, written by Conor McPherson (Shining City) and directed by Ciaran O'Reilly (The Emperor Jones), began performances on March 30, 2018 at Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage, will open on April 18, and will now run through May 24, 2018.

Palm Beach Dramaworks to Continue 'Pay Your Age' Initiative and More with SWEENEY TODD

Arts organizations throughout the country are on a constant quest to attract newer, younger, and more diverse audiences while maintaining their longtime, loyal supporters. Palm Beach Dramaworks is no exception. For a while now, PBD has been running a Pay Your Age initiative on select Sunday evenings for anyone 40 and under. The response has been so strong that, beginning with the run of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd (July 14 - August 6), and continuing throughout the 2017 - 2018 season, Pay Your Age tickets will be available for all performances. Several additional outreach ventures are under consideration for the upcoming season as well.

Dreams are in short supply on the desolate island of Inishmaan, particularly for the sensitive, physically challenged Billy Claven in Martin McDonagh's The Cripple of Inishmaan. So when word arrives that an American filmmaker is coming to the neighboring island of Inishmore to make a motion picture, Billy goes after a part in the movie, hoping for a trip to Hollywood and escape from the cruelty and bleakness that engulf him. McDonagh's darkly comic work opens at Palm Beach Dramaworks on May19 and continues through June 4, with specially priced previews on May 17 and 18.

Filthy traitor or silly duffer? This is the question at the centre of The Court Theatre's new production Plum, written by Roy Smiles. Plum brings to the stage the most critical time in the life of popular 20th century writer, humourist and lyricist PG Wodehouse - or Plum as he was known to his friends. "Wodehouse was then and remains one of the few authors who can make me laugh out loud," says playwright Roy Smiles. "Reading his books in a 1970s Britain scarred with National Front skinheads, strikes, race riots and IRA bombs it was deeply comforting escapism."
