Today, on Bob Dylan's birthday, it was announced that Girl From The North Country will resume performances on Broadway on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Conor McPherson reimagines the songs of the legendary Bob Dylan in Girl From The North Country - the new musical about the dreams we keep close, the people we hold dear, and the place we call home.  

The late, two-time Tony Award-winning actor Brian Dennehy, who died last year at age 81,  can be seen giving his final performance when the new film SON OF THE SOUTH is released Friday, February 5th by Vertical Entertainment, it has been announced by the film's producer Eve Pomerance.

Set in Bob Dylan's hometown of Duluth, Minnesota in 1934, writer and director Conor McPherson's GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY is equal parts bleak and beautiful. The busy story centers on the Laine family and their guest house; stressed father and husband Nick (Donald Sage MacKay) is busy caring for his wife Elizabeth (Katie Brayben), whose dementia has progressed to the point where she's like a rowdy child with a sailor's mouth. His issues double with their children Gene (Colin Bates), an alcoholic, would-be writer and Marianne (Gloria Obianyo), their adopted Black daughter who's several months pregnant.

After critically acclaimed, smash-hit runs at The Old Vic London, in London's West End, and at The Public Theater New York, Girl from the North Country comes to Toronto's Royal Alexandra Theatre for a strictly limited engagement. Digital arts journal Stage Raw announces the nominees for its fifth annual Stage Raw Theater Awards, to be held Monday night September 9, 2019, at Los Angeles Theatre Center, 514 S. Spring Street. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday August 7, 2019. The Stage Raw Theater Awards honor the finest work performed on Los Angeles area stages of 99-seats or fewer, and are selected by a jury of Stage Raw critics. This year's awards celebrate work performed between June 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019.

Laurissa “Lala” Romain, who has appeared in Chris Rock's Top Five, TBS' Are We There Yet and on Broadway in Roger's & Hammerstein's South Pacific, will make a cameo singing in Barry Alexander Brown's civil rights-era drama Son of the South, which has Spike Lee attached as an executive producer along with Brown.

Spike Lee is set to executive produce the civil rights drama “Son of the South,” according to Variety. Lee's longtime editor Barry Alexander Brown will direct the drama from his own screenplay.

Though immersed in rehearsals, Colin Bates (who plays the titular role of Dorian) graciously found some time to answer a few of my inquiries into his creative thought processes.
