The 2023 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were given last night, May 7, to recipients in 15 categories, with four honorary awards also bestowed. BroadwayWorld was there and you can check out photos from the red carpet here!

Last week there were several first-time Tony nominees. One of them was KIMBERLY AKIMBO helmer Jessica Stone, an actress-turned-director who made her Broadway directorial debut with the acclaimed musical, which overall picked up eight Tony nominations.

Amas Musical Theatre in association with Jim Kierstead, Broadway Factor, Linda Karn and David Bryant, announced that Katey Sagal ('The Connors,' 'Married...With Children,' 'Sons of Anarchy') has joined the cast in the role of 'Agatha' for the Off Broadway premiere of The Gospel According to Heather, a new musical with a book, music and lyrics by Paul Gordon.

The swingin' sold out event, Sinatra & Dessert, held on Sunday afternoon May 7th, 2023, at the Avon Marina Building in Avon-By-The-Sea, New Jersey, honored musical icons Frank Sinatra and Nelson Riddle, with a few added surprises.

Today, we continue with the creatives from Broadway's most beloved thriller, Sweeney Todd- Scenic Designer Mimi Lien, Costume Designer Emilio Sosa, Lighting Designer Natasha Katz, and Sound Designer Nevin Steinberg.

Brooklyn Choreographer Jamel Gaines and his dance theater company, Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet (JGCO), will mark Juneteenth 2023 with a program commemorating defining events in African American history and the fight for equal rights at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Sunday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m. The multimedia production will include dance, theatre, music, spoken word, film, photography and costuming. Tickets are $30 and are available here.

Westport Country Playhouse's Family Festivities Series will present the musical adventure, “The Pout-Pout Fish,” based on The New York Times bestselling series by Deborah Diesen, with illustrations by Dan Hanna, on Sunday, May 21, at 1 and 4 p.m.

Untitled Theater Company No. 61 proudly presents the world premiere of THE SHYLOCK AND THE SHAKESPEAREANS, a darkly humorous retelling of The Merchant of Venice, written and directed by Edward Einhorn, running June 1 - 17, 2023 in a limited engagement at New Ohio Theatre.

Honestly, I did not know what to expect when I was walking into the Alley Theatre for SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE CASE OF THE JERSEY LILY; I have never been a person who goes out of their way to engage in tales of mystery. However, when this show ended, I was still on my toes and itching for more!

The rotating celebrity guests will each join host Rutledge Wood and resident experts Dalal Elsheikh, designer for the Ford Motor Company, and Hertrech “Hert” Eugene Jr., car culture influencer, on an episode throughout the season, where they will review the epic car transformations and crown a winner.
