Rehearsals started this week for AMADEUS, which begins previews in the Olivier Theatre from 16 October (press night 26 October). This autumn, Peter Shaffer's classic play Amadeus makes a long-awaited return to the National Theatre after 37 years.

A cracking ensemble of six plays the vividly drawn gang, as well as everyone else they encounter - the world viewed with their female adolescent gaze. It's colourful, rough-edged, raucous and almost painfully intense: a stunning encapsulation of what it feels like to be teetering on the cusp of adulthood.
