They hold a family of monkeys hostage in a cage and force them to stand on their heads. ALL THE TIME. We told you they weren't very nice. Written by acclaimed Scottish playwright David Greig (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - The Musical) and directed by Ramin Gray (The Royal Opera's The Importance of Being Ernest), THE EVENTS began previews on February 4, 2015 and officially opened last night, February 12, 2015 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003). Maxine Peake will return to The Royal Court to appear in Zinnie Harris' How to Hold Your Breath, with full casting to be announced soon. The production, written by Zinnie Harris, will be directed by the Royal Court's Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone, premiering on 4 February at Jerwood Theatre Downstairs.

With the 2014 Philadelphia Fringe Festival closed, Annenberg Center Live welcomes the Best New Play winner from the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Philadelphia premiere of The Events by David Greig is a co-production between the Actors Touring Company, Brageteatret, Drammen, Schauspielhaus Vienna, and the Young Vic Theatre, London. Set in the aftermath of a mass shooting at a church choir rehearsal, The Events explores our destructive desire to fathom the unfathomable and asks how far forgiveness can stretch in the face of brutality. The Events runs at the Annenberg Center, 3680 Walnut Street, October 7-19 for 12 performances. Opening night is tonight, October 7 at 7:30 PM.
