Local Teacher Presented with Broadway League Apple Award

On Tuesday, December 5, 2017, local teacher Jason Ford was presented with the national 2017 League Educator Apple Award at Francis Parker School #23 by Rachel Reiner, Director of Audience Engagement at The Broadway League, based in NYC. Now in its fifteenth year, the award acknowledges the efforts of local teachers and advocates who support programs relating to Broadway or Touring Broadway shows, promoting further development of theatre education. Jason accepted the award amongst an audience of students and peers who cheered in support of his achievement.

Submissions Now Being Accepted For Tony Awards 2018 Theatre Education Award

The Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) will once again recognize an exemplary teacher with the Excellence in Theatre Education Award, to be presented at the 2018 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 10, 2018. CMU alumnus, actor and producer, Zachary Quinto, will serve as the award's official ambassador and will take part in the selection committee.

Breaking: Broadway League Files Legal Complaint Against Multiple Casting Agencies Over Health Insurance Battle

Today in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, The Broadway League filed a formal legal complaint against what a press release refers to as 'a cartel of casting companies who are violating antitrust laws, jeopardizing Broadway shows, and harming actors, stagehands, musicians, and others who depend on the theatre for their livelihood.'

Broadway Theaters Begin Rollout of New Access Technology

The Broadway League is coordinating efforts of its New York members who are in the process of introducing new technology to provide an improved theatergoing experience for audience members who are deaf, or who experience hearing or vision loss. These new services, in addition to currently available assistive listening devices, are provided to theatergoers free of charge.

Commercial Theater Institute Announces 2017 - 2018 Season

Tom Viertel, Executive Director of Commercial Theater Institute (CTI), has announced the 2017 - 2018 season which so far will include a 14-week in-depth program that explores producing; a 3-day intensive introduction to producing; and workshops on specialized topics. Melodic Caring Project to Bring Disney's ALADDIN to Children in Local Hospitals

Seattle Theatre Group (STG) is one of 10 presenters in the U.S. to receive a 2017 National Education and Engagement Grant from the Broadway League. With the funding, STG is partnering with Melodic Caring Project (MCP) and Disney Theatrical Productions to share the artistry and joy of the hit Broadway musical Aladdin with children in local hospitals.
