The Jimmy Awards is pleased to announce that tickets for the tenth annual Jimmy Awards ceremony are now on sale. The Broadway League has awarded the New York Education and Engagement Grants to the Broadway productions of Manhattan Theatre Club's Saint Joan, School of Rock: The Musical and The Play That Goes Wrong. Each production received a $3,500 grant toward its 2018 educational and engagement initiatives. The grants aid the growth and development of theatre education in the city in an effort to encourage Broadway productions to create more opportunities for young people.
The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), honored acclaimed Director Julie Taymor with the distinguished 2018 'Mr. Abbott' Award for outstanding artistry and creativity over the course of her career. The Award was presented at the Foundation's annual gala event on April 2, 2018 in New York City, at the Bohemian National Hall.

A couple of weeks ago when five-time Tony nominee Jan Maxwell died, I assumed the marquees of Broadway theaters would be dimmed. I emailed the Broadway League--the association of theatre owners and producers who issues press releases on such things--to ask 'when' it would happen. The Broadway League's annual demographics report, The Demographics of the Broadway Audience 2016 2017, compares current Broadway habits in New York City to previous seasons and aids in predicting trends for the future. This report is the 20th publication in a longitudinal study that tracks the trends and changes of the Broadway audiences over time. During the 2016 2017 season, more New Yorkers attended a Broadway show than any season since 1998 1999 and the number of theatregoers under 18 years old was the highest since this analysis began.
NYC & Company, New York City's official destination marketing organization, announced NYC Broadway Week tickets are on sale to the public today beginning at 10:30am EST. The popular biannual program, now in its eighth year, will run January 16 through February 4, 2018, offering visitors and New Yorkers the opportunity to purchase two-for-one tickets to 19 exciting Broadway shows. Of the participants, seven are new Broadway productions, including Farinelli and the King, SpongeBob SquarePants and The Parisian Woman, among others.
