The Ravinia Festival plans to reopen in July for the 2021 summer season. Now, the full lineup has been announced!

The Joyce Theater  Foundation announced today the New York City dance organization’s programming for its Spring 2021 digital season. The full slate of online programming will bring audiences even closer to dance and The Joyce one step closer to a more traditional season.

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, will present four world premieres in the culmination of Joffrey's national call for ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab and Native American) artists to submit applications for the Joffrey Academy's Tenth Annual Winning Works Choreographic Competition. This year's Competition winners-Chanel DaSilva, Tsai Hsi Hung, Pablo Sánchez and Durante Verzola-each have choreographed an original work created on the Joffrey Academy Trainees and Studio Company. Winning Works expands to four performances in 2020 and returns to the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago's Edlis Neeson Theater (220 E. Chicago Avenue) Friday, March 20 at 7:30 PM, Saturday, March 21 at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM, Sunday, March 22 at 2:00 PM. Tickets for Winning Works are $30 and available for purchase at joffrey.org/winningworks.

The much-anticipated MOBY DICK (A Musical Reckoning), from the team that brought you NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 in 2015, has finally surfaced at the Loeb Drama Center of the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge. Based on the iconic American novel by Herman Melville, the three-and-a-half-hour-long musical endeavors to theatricalize about 40 of the book's 135 chapters, taking a much larger bite from the source material than the mere 70- page section of Leo Tolstoy's WAR AND PEACE adapted for THE GREAT COMET. Oh, would that Dave Malloy (music, book, lyrics, and orchestrations) and Rachel Chavkin (director, co-developer) had approached this project with such surgical skill, rather than casting the broadest of nets upon the waters.

Moby-Dick began previews on Tuesday, December 3 and opened on December 12 at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA. It plays through Sunday, January 12. 

Dave Malloy's musical adaptation of Moby-Dick is officially setting sail tonight with the show's opening night, and A.R.T. is giving us a peek into the theatre's transformation to bring the whale of a tale to life on stage. Check it out with this video!

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, announces the recipients of the tenth annual Winning Works Choreographic Competition: Chanel DaSilva, Tsai Hsi Hung, Pablo Sánchez (recipient of the inaugural Zach Lazar Winning Works Fellowship, named in honor of former Joffrey Board Chair Zach Lazar) and Durante Verzola.

American Repertory Theater has announced the creative team and cast of Moby-Dick, with music, lyrics, book, and orchestrations by Dave Malloy, developed with and directed by Tony Award-winner Rachel Chavkin.

The first time I heard bass-baritone Davone Tinesa--he off the sensual, resonant voice and startlingly vivid stage presence--it was in Handel's ACI, GALATEA E POLIFEMO (described as a spectacular, streamlined, Cliff-Notes version of a Handel opera), at Brooklyn's National Sawdust. Tines wowed me and I thought that I wanted to hear more of him. He opens July 24, 2019 at Mostly Mozart in THE BLACK CLOWN at the Gerald Lynch Theatre of John Jay College, near Lincoln Center.

Award-winning contemporary choreographer Ariel Grossman and her company of seven female dancers will celebrate the 12th Anniversary of ARIEL RIVKA DANCE (ARD) with two premieres, repertory and guest artists at Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue (25th Street) in New York City. The program will take place in four performances, Thursday, March 28 through Saturday, March 30 at 7:30pm, with a family matinee on March 30 at 11:30am. The two ARD works in premiere, Mossy and Rhapsody in K, will feature newly commissioned scores by composers David Homan and Stefania de Kenessey. Live music will be included at all performances. *The full ARD lineup below.
