The benefit will be held at Christ & Saint Stephen's Church at 8 pm.

TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley, had great cause to celebrate this week, from eight 2010 Tony® Award nominations and seven 2010 Drama Desk Award nominations for the TheatreWorks-born Broadway hit MEMPHIS to capturing top honors in the Bay Area Theatre Critic's Circle Awards. This year's Tony nominations include a healthy showing for a musical developed last year at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre during its pre-Broadway run: Memphis. A co-production between The 5th and La Jolla Playhouse, this original musical by David Bryan (music and lyrics) and Joe DiPietro (lyrics and book) tells the story of a white DJ whose love of black music helped bring about the birth of rock n' roll.

'I was asleep when I got the news from my publicist! I did the Sinatra concert at Carnegie Hall last night so I was so tired. But talk about waking up to amazing news! Tonight, I am going to go to work and sure I congratulate every member of my cast, especially Chad for his nomination. It is collective work on that stage and we work so hard to make sure every night is as good as it can be.'

Lortel Statues for 14 categories and 2 special awards were handed out by celebrity presenters at the 2010 Lucille Lortel Awards at a live awards ceremony last night, May 2, at Terminal 5. Hosted by the Off-Broadway League, the live show was co-hosted by Bryan Batt and Bebe Neuwirth and featured performances by Alan Menken, STOMP, Seth Rudetsky, Edward Watts of The Fanasticks and LaChanze.
