Montego Glover, Tony nominated for her performance in MEMPHIS, will perform at the Ford's Theatre Society annual gala titled 'America Celebrates July 4th at Ford's Theatre.' The program will be filmed Sunday, June 6, in Washington, DC; portions of the gala will air on Friday, July 2nd on ABC (9pm - 10pm ET).

MEMPHIS, winner of the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Outstanding New Musical Award, celebrates its 250th performance on Tuesday, May 25th at 7pm at the Shubert Theatre. As a thank you to all the MEMPHIS fans, everyone in the audience will receive a MEMPHIS Cast Recording CD sampler with 5 songs from the show. In addition, three lucky audience members will win $250 worth of MEMPHIS merchandise.

Last night, May 23, the Drama Desk Association hosted the 55th Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. Former Drama Desk Award winner Patti LuPone hosted the ceremony, which honored the best of Broadway and off in the 2009-2010 season. BroadwayWorld.com provided live coverage on the site throughout the ceremony and was on hand at the event to capture the starry arrivals.

New Dramatists, Tony Honor recipient and one of the nation's premiere playwright development workshop, honored two-time Tony Award winner Julie Taymor with their 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award at its 61st Annual Spring Luncheon tribute, to be held Tuesday, May 18th at the New York Marriott Marquis. Ms. Taymor's award was presented to her by Academy Award winning actress Helen Mirren, who stars in Taymor's soon-to-be-released film adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest. Thomas Schumacher of Disney Theatricals served as the Luncheon Chair. Disney Theatricals and Robert Boyett were the benefactors for New Dramatists 61st Annual Spring Luncheon.

Oliver Stone Wants MEMPHIS Movie?

Last week the New York Post reported that Justin Timberlake was interested in making a movie of MEMPHIS and this week ... it's Oliver Stone. The paper states that Stone is a big fan of the show which he's seen twice already and that he's been taking meetings with David Bryan. A representative for Stone confirms the director is interested in the project, telling the publication, 'He's thinking about it.'

The New York Post is reporting that while pop star Justin Timberlake was backstage with girlfriend Jessica Biel at MEMPHIS on Broadway last week, that he told the show's composer, Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan that 'he's interested in turning the show into a movie.' Timberlake, aged 29 was born in Memphis, Tennessee where the show takes place.
