bite size theatre is dedicated to performances in it's possibly shortest form. Every show comprises six short pieces created by six different artistic teams ? all to one topic. The aim is to explore this theme to a broad extent from six different perspectives and with six different artistic means.
The topic for the first bite size theatre show in September is EXPLOSION. It will feature a mix of three theatre pieces, one dance work, one performance art piece and a video installation. We are inviting the audience into a space similar to a gallery - they walk around in a promenade theatre installation from 'picture' to 'picture', from performance to performance.
All bites stand for themselves and at the same time relate to one topic and therefore also to each other. The audience can draw their own connections, disconnections and associations towards EXPLOSION.
The artists for bite size theatre : EXPLOSION are
Ashley DeMoville (Mark Ravenhill: War of the Worlds)
Astrid Gleichmann (6-channel video installation)
Binge Culture (Devised theatre)
CSharp Musicals (Devised musical theatre)
Jana Castillo (Contemporary Dance Improvisation)
Sascha Perfect / Chris Ulutupu (Performance Art)
We are very grateful for the tremendous support of Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School and Victoria University.

The Castillo Theatre follows many avenues to bring new, experiment theatre work to their 42nd Street stages, and to the American theatre. The Fratti-Newman Contest is the only contest in the United States designed to encourage and find new scripts that engage the political/social/cultural questions impacting on the world today.
I'll readily admit to letting out a quiet, though not exactly inaudible, 'Wow,' as I entered the main auditorium at 59E59 and took a first glimpse at Kris Stone's New York apartment set for Primary Stages' premiere production of Cusi Cram's A Lifetime Burning. The high-ceilinged collection of sharp angles, backed by exposed brick, colored in blue pastel and embellished by furnishings by Eva Zeisel (I had to look it up), immediately grabbed my interest and had me anxious to meet whomever it was who might be living there.
