Upstart Crows of Santa Fe and The Shakespeare Gym Present ROMEO AND JULIET

Upstart Crows of Santa Fe and The Shakespeare Gym will present an uncut production of Shakespeare's timeless tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. Two casts - one an age-accurate mix of adults and youth, the other a gender- blind, age- blind cast perform in the historic Scottish Rite Temple and then in the Crows own black box theater in Eldorado.

Four casts of three readers do a costumed dramatic reading using Dickens' own performance script. Live performances include a Victorian tea service at intermission. COMEDY OF ERRORS Comes To The Santa Fe Botanical Garden

Two casts of veteran Upstart Crow performers will perform Shakespeare's comedy of mistaken identities at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, Fridays and Saturdays, July 26, 27, and August 2,3, 6 p.m.

BWW Feature: 9 Shows In Santa Fe/Albuquerque To Look Forward To in 2019

2018 was an amazing year for theatre in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and if the proposed seasons for area theatres are any indication, 2019 is going to be a great one, too. From classic plays to super contemporary ones, and of course, a decent amount of musicals, this year has a lot for theatregoers to look forward to. Here are some productions I'm particularly excited about in the coming months.

BWW Feature: YOUTH SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL at Meow Wolf

Now in its third year, the Youth Shakespeare Festival features students from Academy of Technology and the Classics, Capital High, Eldorado Community School, Mandela International School, McCurdy Charter School, New Mexico School for the Arts, Santa Fe High, Santa Fe Indian School, Santa Fe Prep, and the Upstart Crows of Santa Fe.

Upstart Crows of Santa Fe Present Speak What We Feel: King Lear Workshop

Twenty three young Shakespeareans,10-18, will be taking multiple roles in a performance of scenes from King Lear.  The production is associated with the International Shakespeare Center's Year of Lear celebration that started last fall. The cast has been exploring the play in workshop format since February and has prepared close to three quarters of the play. The performance at Adobe Rose Theater on April 28, 29, features on-stage character transitions with cast members playing multiple roles.

The International Shakespeare Center Santa Fe Announces 'A Year of Lear'

The International Shakespeare Center Santa Fe, which produced so much programming last year for First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare in Santa Fe, has announced a year-long exploration and celebration of Shakespeare's penetrating exposition of politics, family dynamics, and rationality, The Tragedy of King Lear.

Ducdame Ensemble to Bring TWELFTH NIGHT and MERCHANT OF VENICE to Santa Fe

Ducdame Ensemble, the New York-based theatre company, will bring Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT and THE MERCHANT OF VENICE to Santa Fe in their first repertory season with the International Shakespeare Center. The productions will run August 22 through September 3, 2016. Ducdame Ensemble's initial collaboration with the ISC, DAMES OF THRONES: THE WOMEN OF SHAKESPEARE'S HISTORIES, played a sold-out run at Santa Fe's Adobe Rose Theatre this past February.
