Bay Area Theater Community To Dim Its Lights In Honor Of San Francisco's Own Carol Channing

The Bay Area theater community will honor the life and career of theatrical legend and San Francisco local treasure, Carol Channing, with the dimming of the lights on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 7:45 p.m. PST for one minute. This will echo Wednesday's dimming of the lights of Broadway theaters in New York. American Conservatory Theater, Curran, Feinstein's at the Nikko, and Lowell High School will participate, and with Theatre Bay Area and its 300 theater company members, other theaters throughout the Bay Area will pay tribute to Channing throughout the day, shining a light on her marque performances over social media.

Curran Theatre To Host the West Coast Premiere of THE JUNGLE

Following widely-acclaimed, sensation-stirring, and sold-out engagements in London and New York, Carole Shorenstein Hays and Sonia Friedman Productions with Tom Kirdahytoday announced that the West Coast Premiere of the Good Chance Theatre, National Theatre and Young Vic production of THE JUNGLE by Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson, will take place at San Francisco's Curran this spring. Under the direction of Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, the strictly limited engagement begins Tuesday March 26, 2019 and will run through Sunday, May 19, 2019. Tickets for THE JUNGLE are $25-$165 and go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, with presale access available for existing Curran subscribers. Tickets will be available at SFCURRAN.com/jungle. $25 day-of rush tickets to THE JUNGLE will be made available through a partnership with TODAY TIX.

Head Over Heels, the new musical comedy featuring the iconic songs of The Go-Go's - the most successful female rock band of all time - will play its final Broadway performance at Hudson Theatre (141 West 44th Street) on Sunday, January 6, 2019. Head Over Heels, which began preview performances on Saturday, June 23 and officially opened on Thursday, July 26, 2018, will have played 188 regular performances and 37 previews.

Mac will perform A 24-Decade History of Popular Music as two distinct 12-hour concerts, Saturday, June 2 (1776-1896) and Saturday, June 9 (1896-present day) - Mac's longest continuous performances since the work premiered at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn in 2016.
