BWW Review: BEST OF CANDLELIGHT at Candlelight Music Theatre

Candlelight Theatre opens their third show of the season with an economical inhouse production of BEST OF CANDLELIGHT, a prudent decision with live theatre the world over attempting to gain financial stasis. This show has no ‘book’, saving licensing money. The show takes us down Broadway; a smorgasbord of solos, duets and production numbers. As previously reported, Candlelight is to be commended for being the first entertainment venue in the state to welcome back grateful guests.

BWW Interview: Sidney Outlaw of MOZART AND SALIERI at Opera San José Finds Himself Entering the Prime of His Career

It would appear that acclaimed baritone Sidney Outlaw is having the busiest year of his career. In addition to starring as composer Antonio Salieri in Opera San José’s new virtual production of Rimsky-Korsakov’s 'Mozart and Salieri,' Outlaw will be performing 'Barber of Seville,' 'Porgy and Bess,' and 'La Bohème.' BroadwayWorld speaks with Outlaw.

Palmer appeared on Broadway with Carol Channing in Lorelei in 1974. He also appeared as Tommy in Brigadoon in 1963 and as Curly in Oklahoma! in 1964 at New York City Center.

BWW Review: HELLO, DOLLY! at Theatre Memphis

Everything these days seems to be ephemeral. With the attention span of a gnat, Americans lose interest faster than it took to write this sentence. Squirrel! Platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Tinder (swiping for love based on appearances alone) is ever-shortening society's ability to focus and appreciate longevity. With an insatiable appetite for newer and better, the world has embraced change for change's sake. Longevity is, ironically, a thing of the past. That's why it's beyond remarkable that Theatre Memphis is now celebrating its 100th Anniversary Season with the opening of HELLO, DOLLY! (Now through September 19th). 100 years of the Memphis community coming together to put on a show-that's quite a feat! Like a fine wine, Theatre Memphis seems to be just getting better and better with age. Not only have the production values increased immensely over the past few years, but the overall space itself has been infused with millions of dollars in gorgeous renovations. Everything seems to be peaking for TM at just the right time.

BWW Review: BONNIE MILLIGAN Raises the Roof at 54 Below

Bonnie Milligan is what Broadway used to sound like: brassy, belted, and funny. Thank God, there are still women around who know how to do it. There is a huge difference between selling a song with some charm in a big voice, and 'screlting' at the top of your lungs. Ethel Merman knew the difference. So does Bonnie Milligan. She made one of the most talked-about Broadway debuts in seasons as the deliciously vain Princess Pamela in Head Over Heels. She confessed that it’s been 3 years since she last did a solo show. Tonight at Feinstein’s 54 Below, she made up for lost time, delivering a stellar, and surprisingly vulnerable self-titled show.

The York Theatre Company to Present REMEMBERING JERRY HERMAN Starring Lee Roy Reams

Well, Well…Hello, Lee Roy! The York Theatre Company will present Broadway’s Lee Roy Reams in his new solo show _Remembering Jerry Herman*, celebrating his collaboration with the late great musical theater legend. Audiences will hear glorious songs and outrageous stories from shows that include La Cage aux Folles, Hello, Dolly!, and more.

BWW Interview: Donelle Dadigan Re-Opening Her Hollywood Museum TO THE FUTURE
