On Saturday night, Dallas leaders, philanthropists and lovers of the arts came together to celebrate the magic of musical theatre at the 2019 DSM Gala – An Evening with the Best of Broadway presented by PNC.

Kelli O'Hara is a star Off and on Broadway, in the West End, on television, on film, and even sang with The Metropolitan Opera. After being nominated five times over the course of her career, she finally won a Tony Award for playing Anna in The King and I. Some of her other iconic roles include Clara in The Light in the Piazza, Nelli in South Pacific, Francesca in The Bridges of Madison County, and most recently Lilli/Katherine in Kiss Me, Kate. We caught up with her ahead of her solo concert at Cadogan Hall.

On Saturday, November 2nd, Broadway's longest running Elphaba, Jackie Burns, worked with a group of students at Broadway Artists Alliance, workshopping audition material and sharing stories about her experiences in the industry. Burns garnered critical acclaim for her long running portrayal of Elphaba in the musical Wicked. She holds the distinction of most performances as the green-skinned witch on Broadway.

Disney has officially been making magic on Broadway for 25 years! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Disney on Broadway is partnering with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS to put on a special benefit to celebrate the momentous occasion. We're getting in on the celebration by looking back at Disney's show-stopping productions, from classics like Beauty and the Beast and Newsies to current favorites like Aladdin and Frozen. For the first time on national television, six women who originated some of Disney on Broadway's iconic leading roles, come together to sing a medley of beloved songs. On Sunday, October 13th, Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes spent the day with a group of students at Broadway Artists Alliance, workshopping audition material and sharing stories about her experience on Broadway. Osnes was most recently seen on Broadway in the critically acclaimed production Bandstand, in which she originated the role of Julia Trojan and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award. Osnes is also well known for her starring turns in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (Ella, Tony Award Nomination), Bonnie and Clyde (Bonnie, Tony Award Nomination), Anything Goes (Hope Harcourt), South Pacific (Nellie Forbush) and Grease (Sandy). Osnes took time out of her busy schedule to connect with the students and share her advice for navigating the theater industry.

This afternoon, Hillary Clinton paid a visit to Arendelle when she stopped by Frozen on Broadway! After the show she posed for photos with Caissie Levy (Elsa), Patti Murin (Anna) and the rest of the Frozen Broadway company.
