MacDowell Awards Winter-Spring Fellowships To 87 Artists

The MacDowell Colony has awarded Fellowships to 87 artists from 21 states and seven countries. The incoming Fellows reflect seven artistic disciplines and will arrive from locales as far apart as Poland, Mexico, Belgium, and Israel, as well as Tennesee, Washington, and Minnesota. The Fellowships are for upcoming winter and spring residencies at one of the nation's leading contemporary arts organizations.

Sundance Institute Theatre Program: An All-Women Cohort To Convene At MASS MoCA Lab

Sundance Institute's Theatre Program will support three ambitious new works for the stage, and their four women creators, at this year's two-week Theatre Lab at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). The Lab, which runs from November 10 to November 24th, will feature the concentrated and abundant time and resources, including individual casting from a dedicated acting company and daily rehearsals, that has long been a signature of Sundance's Labs.

MCC Theater Announces Fall 2019 PLAYLAB And SONGLAB Readings

MCC Theater announced today the line-up for their Fall 2019 PlayLabs readings of new plays to be held at The Newman Mills Theater at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space (511 West 52nd Street): Gina Femia's Allond(r)a, directed by Elena Araoz; Ana Nogueira's Mask Only, directed by Mike Donahue; C.A. Johnson's I Know I Know I Know, directed by Taylor Reynolds; and Brian Otaño's The Dust, directed by David Mendizábal.

The Lark Announces 2019-20 Rita Goldberg Playwrights' Workshop Fellows

a??a??a??a??a??a??a??The Lark, a theater company devoted to the support of extraordinary playwrights and the development of new plays, is thrilled to announce that Sam Chanse, J. Julian Christopher, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, C.A. Johnson, and Abe Koogler have been selected as the 2019-20 Rita Goldberg Playwrights' Workshop Fellows. This year marks the 20th iteration of the Workshop, which was established by renowned playwright Arthur Kopit, and brings together emerging and established playwrights in a space where they are free to explore new material, without commercial pressures.

The Lark Announces 2019-20 New Voices Fellows

The Lark has announced that playwrights Xavier Galva and Ife Olujobi have been selected as the recipients of the 2019-20 New Voices Fellowship, supported by the Jerome Foundation. This year long residency is designed to support extraordinary playwrights of color under 30, in order to to help address the lack of inclusion of early career playwrights of color in the field. The Fellowship includes a cash award of $15,000, plus a $3,000 Opportunity Fund for the purposes of research, travel, or other expenses, as well as access to The Lark's artistic resources and support. The New Voices program is part of a portfolio of Fellowships at The Lark, which aims to engage a diverse community of playwrights from around the world, at various places in their careers.

On Thursday, June 27th The Kilroys celebrated the drop of THE LIST 2019 at WP Theater in New York City. The event celebrated the 13 founding members of the organization and the 33 plays featured on THE LIST 2019. 

Tina Benko, Andrew Durand, Kyle Beltran Lead Industry Reading of DIRTY DIRTY

The Dennis & Victoria Ross Foundation (DVRF) will present an industry reading of Amy Gijsbers van Wijk's DIRTY DIRTY as part of the 2019 DVRF Playwrights Program.  The reading stars Tina Benko (Nantucket Sleigh Ride), Andrew Durand (Ink, Head Over Heels), Kyle Beltran (Blue Ridge), Mirirai Sithole (School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play), and Fig Chilcott (La MaMa's The Last Days of Judas Iscariot). The reading is directed by Sarah Krohn (WP's Veil'd).

PLAYING HOT Extends One Week

Pipeline Theatre Company announces a one-week extension of the world premiere production of jazz concert-party-play hybrid Playing Hot, created by Kevin Armento (Balls) and Jaki Bradley (1969: The Second Man).

Cherry Lane Theatre Concludes Its Mentor Project Season With C. A. Johnson's THE CLIMB

Cherry Lane Theatre (Angelina Fiordellisi, Founder; Seri Lawrence, Artistic Director) will conclude its Obie Award-winning Mentor Project with The Climb, written by C.A. Johnson. The Climb is directed by Jenna Worsham, mentored by Pulitzer Prize winner Martyna Majok and will begin performances on Wednesday, April 3 and run through April 13, 2019, at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street, NYC).  Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by visiting cherrylanetheatre.org or by calling 866-811-4111.

Fernando Contreras, Dante Jeanfelix, Roi King, and More Will Lead Pipeline Theatre Company's PLAYING HOT

Pipeline Theatre Company has announced full casting for the world premiere of jazz concert-party-play hybrid Playing Hot, created by Kevin Armento (Balls) and Jaki Bradley (1969: The Second Man). Playing Hot is written by Armento and C.A. Johnson (Thirst), will be directed by Bradley, and will feature musical supervision by Marcus Miller. Playing Hot will begin previews at Theater 511 (511 West 54th Street) on April 18, 2019, and officially open on May 2, playing a limited engagement through May 12, 2019. Tickets are on sale now and are available at www.pipelinetheatre.org/tickets.
