Steven Reineke-led New York Pops announced this week an amazing lineup for the upcoming season.

The New York Pops has announced its 2023-2024 season of performances in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. See who is performing, and how to purchase tickets!

The best of Broadway was at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Thursday, where The Piano Lesson, directed by Tony Award nominee LaTanya Richardson Jackson and starring Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, and Danielle Brooks, opened on Broadway. Long Wharf Theatre announced today additional details for fall programming at 222 Sargent Drive as part of Act 1 of its 2022-2023 season. Dignity, Always Dignity will be presented on September 10 and 11, while performances for Jelly’s Last Jam will take place on September 17 and 18.

The uber-cool jam “Kicks,” performed by Chosen Jacobs, is the film’s opening musical sequence. The song was written by Antonina Armato, Tim James Price, Thomas Armato Sturges and Adam Schmalholz and produced by Antonina Armato and Tim James Price. The stand-out dance sequence is choreographed by Ebony Williams and Emilio Dosal. 

FUNNY GIRL opened last night, Sunday, April 24 at the August Wilson Theatre and BroadwayWorld was on hand for the star-studded red carpet arrivals. Check out the photos below of the stars who came to see the show!

The Broadway revival of Ntozake Shange's for colored girls who have considered suicide/ when the rainbow is enuf, directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Camille A. From the creators of “Descendants,” “High School Musical,” and “ZOMBIES” franchises, this musical is set in the vibrant street-sneaker subculture of New York City and puts a modern twist on Cinderella. The film features John Salley, Devyn Nekoda, Juan Chioran, Bryan Terrell Clark, Kolton Stewart, Robyn Alomar, Yvonne Senat Jones and Hayward Leach. 

Just last night, New York City Center Encores! wrapped up The Life, directed and adapted by Billy Porter. The production starred Jelani Alladin as Lou, Alexandra Grey as Queen, Antwayn Hopper as Memphis, Grammy nominee Mykal Kilgore as Young JoJo, Grammy Award winner Ledisi as Sonja, Erika Olson as Mary, Destan Owens as Old Jojo, and Ken Robinson as Fleetwood. The Keenan Scott II play, directed by Steven H. Broadnax III has tried its hardest to safely navigate the current health crisis, even putting the playwright on stage with script this past Tuesday evening, but eventually was not able to continue under the unfortunate conditions of Covid exposure in the city and country.

Last night at Broadway's new hit play, Thoughts of a Colored Man, playwright Keenan Scott II made the rare move of going on in one of the roles, after a cast member tested positive for COVID-19 and two non-COVID related illnesses felled the cast.

CAA Amplify, Broadway Advocacy Coalition, and The Movement Theatre Company co-hosted a celebration of this fall’s eight Black playwrights on Broadway. The event was held on Monday, December 6th at the Paradise Room at The Times Square EDITION. 

Mayor-Elect Eric Adams attended last night’s performance of Thoughts of a Colored Man, his first Broadway play in his new position. After the show, which was attended by Mary J. Blige, Broadway’s own Sheryl Lee Ralph and her husband PA. State Senator Vincent Hughes and Tasha Smith, Mr. Adams praised Keenan Scott II’s play as “historic”.

Super star Vanessa Williams, along with Ashleigh Murray, who stars along with Luke James in the upcoming Hallmark Holiday movie “Christmas in Harmony” congratulated actors Bryan Terrell Clark, Dyllon Burnside, Tristen Mack Wilds, and Luke James after a  performance of THOUGHTS OF A COLORED MAN.
