The Princess Grace Foundation-USA has announced that it is establishing a new award to support emerging theater professionals in any discipline for his/her "Unique Contribution to Theater."  This award is being funded by a $1,000,000 charitable gift from the John Gore Organization with a goal of identifying and supporting extraordinary young talent in the theater field.  The award will be presented annually, beginning in 2019.

Overture Center for the Arts is proud to present the Madison premiere of ANASTASIA in Overture Hall from Tuesday, July 30-Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019. The tour of the critically acclaimed Broadway production began performances in October 2018 at Proctors in Schenectady, NY before journeying to over 30 cities in its first year. Touring the country with ANASTASIA is Tari Kelly, a graduate from Madison's East High.

Lexus Broadway in Austin presented by Texas Performing Arts is proud to present the Austin engagement of LES MISERABLES.  By popular demand, Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed production of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, LES MISERABLES will return to Austin at Bass Concert Hall for one-week only September 10-15, 2019.  Tickets go on sale Friday, June 28 at 10:00 a.m.

These first lines of dialogue set the tone for a musical about community and acceptance in the face of adversity. That musical, Come From Away, just opened in Miami at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts as a leg of its first North American tour.

I had the pleasure of seeing A Bronx Tale with my friend Cassy, who had NEVER seen a musical before! (I know, right?!) I invited Cassy because the 1993 movie, off which the musical is based, is her favorite. Seriously, her cat is named Calogero, after the lead character in both the movie and the play. I was excited to see this show, and especially excited to see it through the eyes of a neophyte theater goer. I was not disappointed!

Broadway stars and poker pros will sit next to theatre fans and industry insiders for a rousing game of Texas Hold 'em when Broadway Bets, Broadway's official poker tournament, returns this Monday, May 13. The event is produced by and benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The 20th Anniversary Tour of 'Rent' has roared onto the stage at the Kansas City Music Hall for a week-long residency through Sunday, May 5.  'Rent,' a rock-opera rendering of Puccini's 'La Boheme,' is not easy stuff.   It is musically challenging and sometimes tough to follow, but it is also undeniably powerful and here performed at the highest possible level.

Producers Tommy Mottola, the Dodgers, Tribeca Productions and Evamere Entertainment are pleased to announce that the North American Tour of A BRONX TALE, the new musical featuring a book by Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri, music by Oscar, Grammy and Tony Award winner Alan Menken, and lyrics by Grammy Award winner and Oscar and Tony Award nominee Glenn Slater, directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo, will play Overture Tuesday, May 14-Sunday, May 19, 2019.

The national tour of the Broadway musical HAMILTON will play at the Morrison Center in Boise as part of the 20/21 Season, it was announced today by Morrison Center Executive Director James Patrick and the Fred Meyer Broadway in Boise series. 

The touring Broadway production of COME FROM AWAY which recently performed in Omaha helped raise $75,000 for flood relief in Nebraska and Southwest Iowa. The producers of COME FROM AWAY, Omaha Performing Arts, and Broadway Across America, along with audience members who attended the show are donating $75,000 for flood relief to the American Red Cross of Nebraska and Southwest Iowa.

The Play That Goes Wrong, the hilarious Tony Award-winning hit Broadway comedy will make its Fox Cities debut at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center April 30 through May 5, 2019.
