TV: What Is BERNHARDT/HAMLET All About? Janet McTeer & Company Explain!

Roundabout Theatre Company will soon present the world premiere of Bernhardt/Hamlet by Pulitzer finalist Theresa Rebeck, directed by Tony nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel, and starring Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe, Tony & Olivier Award winner Janet McTeer as 'Sarah Bernhardt.' The play will begin preview performances on September 1, 2018 and opens officially on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. This is a limited engagement through November 18, 2018 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway.

Chautauqua Theatre Company Wraps Up 33rd Season with TAMING OF THE SHREW

Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC), under the co-leadership of Artistic Directors Andrew Borba and Vivienne Benesch, brings its 33rd season to a close with William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew directed by Andrew Borba and featuring the outstanding talents of its entire 2016 Conservatory company onstage and off to produce this comedy masterpiece. The Taming of the Shrew plays August 12 - 19 on the Bratton Theater stage at the Chautauqua Institution. Opening night is Saturday, August 13 at 6pm. Tickets are $35 and are currently on sale.

Playwright Zayd Dohrn Returns to Chautauqua Theater Company with THE PROFANE

Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC) and the Chautauqua Writers' Center have proudly partnered on their third new play commission, coming July 22 to the Bratton Theater stage.  This year's commission, The Profane, is written by the celebrated CTC New Play Workshop alum Zayd Dohrn (Sick - 2008, Muckrakers - 2012).  Directed by CTC Artistic Director Vivienne Benesch and playing July 22 - 31 at the Chautauqua Institution. Tickets are $35 and are currently on sale.

Identity and racial politics form the foundation of PASSING STRANGE, one of the seminal musicals of our time, and Mixed Blood Theatre's production honors that epic rock legacy, with the added dimension of the intimacy and immediacy of the Alan Page Auditorium. With disparate styles that range from '60's Europop to '70's punk to '80's electronica, to gospel, soul, and funk, to musical theatre, and with a nod to James Brown, this Tony Award winner is a play within a rock concert. Eschewing preconceptions, this band's lead singer is a middle class African American Buddhist rocker ex-pat story-teller, sharing the picaresque journey of his youth via 24 songs. The play's title is inspired by a passage in Shakespeare's OTHELLO.

A relaxing weekend on Martha's Vineyard: Two brothers of an affluent African American family bring their girlfriends home to meet their parents. One girlfriend is white and affluent; the other is black but grew up on the low end of the economic scale. Dad is in residence, but Mom never shows up. As family secrets unravel and sibling rivalries flare, class distinctions rise to the surface. Tony-nominated director Marion McClinton, recently profiled as a Minnesota Original on tpt, directs Stick Fly.
