Cortland Repertory Theater has announced their full fall and early winter schedule at their downtown Cortland building located at 24-26 Port Watson Street in the city of Cortland. 

Gary Schweikhart, board president of the Carbonell Awards, South Florida's most highly coveted recognition of theatrical and performance excellence, today announced that Elizabeth Dashiell has joined the nonprofit organization as Carbonell Coordinator for the 2023-2024 season.

The Illusion; one of the original bands that helped create what would become known as “the Long Island sound”, and the band that kicked the door open (paving the way for so many Long Island entertainers), are being inducted to the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF).

Valley Stream resident and Gin Blossoms' lead singer and guitarist Robin Wilson was recently inducted into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) at their new Stony Brook museum location.

Multiple Grammy winner Sharon Isbin will perform the world premiere of Karen LeFrak's Bailamos from her Miami Guitar Concerto with the National Symphony under the direction of Enrico Lopez-Yañez on Sunday Sept 3 at 8pm on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.  This free concert will also include works by Price/Still, Ellington, Brahms, and Strauss among others.

Emmet Cohen released “Just The Way You Are,” the first single from Master Legacy Series Vol. 5, his upcoming album with the great master of the tenor saxophone Houston Person. Although not considered a traditional selection in the jazz canon, Person puts any hesitation to rest by bringing his own clear, signature sound to the Billy Joel song.

 North Coast Repertory Theatre has announced Season 42, featuring a host of plays that include two world premieres, a beloved musical masterpiece, side-splitting comedies, an eerie Gothic thriller, a poignant drama, and a taut psychological study.  

Women ROCK! is at Cotuit Center for the Arts, running August 16 - September 3, 2023 on the Main Stage. Women ROCK! is a Musical Celebration of the Greatest Women Rock Singers featuring iconic rock classics made famous by Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Fleetwood Mac, Linda Ronstadt, Pretenders, Melissa Etheridge, Brandi Carlisle, and many, many more!

Schall and Schmidt are a lovely duo providing a vintage feel of a 1940’s supper club. Wrapping his vocals with his pleasing tenor and a deep resonant lower register, Schall takes on standards of old and what he calls the new standards of the 1970s Baby Boomers. His opening set is “S Wonderful” as he takes on some of the most popular standards of old including “I Can’t Give You Anything but Love, Baby,” and “Almost Like being in Love.” The diners are also treated to his unique takes on Lerner and Loewe’s “Wouldn’t it be Loverly,” and “On the Street Where You Live” from MY FAIR LADY. His second set included some of the biggest hits of the late 1960’s and 1970s with “Up on the Roof,” “New York State of Mind,” “Both Sides Now,” and more. Schmidt accompanies him splendidly on piano and helps return romance to dining in an intimate setting where you come for a leisurely dinner and to be entertained by a skilled musician accompanying an outstanding vocalist.
