Bianca Marroquin, a regular fixture of Broadway's Tony Award-winning hit musical Chicago, announced via twitter today that she will return to the show as 'Roxie Hart' beginning May 1st for a nine-week run through July 2nd at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St., NYC).
Following its initial casting announcement, The Muny announced today additional principal casting for its spectacular 99th season. This star-packed group includes a mixture of some of the brightest names from stage and screen, with many making their Muny debut this summer.
The Muny announced today 21 principal cast members for its 99th season. Full company casting will be announced throughout April. The 2017 Muny season opens with Jesus Christ Superstar followed by Disney's The Little Mermaid and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. The season continues with the premiere of All Shook Up! and a newly re- envisioned The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Season 99 closes with A Chorus Line and the much- anticipated Muny debut of Newsies.

While recent Broadway seasons have taken encouraging steps toward better female representation, both on and offstage, the question of gender equality within the theatre continues to be a hotly debated issue across the theatrical sphere.
The Ogunquit Playhouse has announced the launch of a new works program to incubate and develop new musicals for the stage. The program is helmed by Matt Schicker and will kick off on Monday, December 5 at 3:30PM at Pearl Studios in New York, NY, with an invite-only Actors' Equity Association stage reading of Frida, a musical with book and lyrics by Michael Aman and music by Dana P. Rowe.

For this momentous day, the cast are taking to the streets, with a free concert at SummerStage in Central Park. Doors open at 7PM and the show begins at 8PM. Broadway history has been made! For the first time ever, two Mexican-born actors are leading a Broadway musical. Latin superstars, and long-time friends, Bianca Marroquin and Jaime Camil will appear on stage opposite each other as 'Roxie Hart' and 'Billy Flynn' for 24 performances only through Sunday, July 31st (when Mr. Camil ends his run). Marroquin will continue in her role through Sunday, August 21st at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St., NYC).
