In one of the first festivals of its kind, a panel of Broadway Producers and Emmy winning writers has compiled its final list of performances for the upcoming New York New Works Theatre Festival (August 29th - October 5).
Last Monday, October 27, the Midtown International Theater Festival presented the awards for its 15th anniversary season. Meshelle, 'The Indie-Mom of Comedy,' hosted this New York independent theatre tradition which celebrates the outstanding work of the festivals and productions found in the Midtown International Theatre Festival, Midwinter Madness Fest, Commercial Division, Children's Theatre Program, Cabaret Showcase, Staged Reading Series, and the Short Play Lab. TheatreWorks Kids registration is now open for four brand-new fall programs for area youths. INDIVIDUAL VOCAL LESSONS with professional Zoe Vandermeer will begin on Tuesday September 17 for 10 weeks. Students will learn how to breathe for singing, improve their range, develop strength, power and flexibility in their voice, and gain confidence through a step by step training method that is clear, concise and reliable. Ms. Vandermeer has 23 years of experience as a voice teacher and specializes in training children, actors, speakers, and those in need of vocal rehabilitation. TheatreWorks New Milford announces three summer programs for kids and teens. A one day-only workshop, TRIPLE THREAT INTENSIVE will be offered by Broadway professionals Ben Simpson, Dan Micciche and Caley Crawford and Tony Award Nominee Robin DeJesus on Sunday June 9 from 12pm to 6pm. The cost is $165.
TheatreWorks New Milford's is now offering new opportunities for local youths to learn key performance techniques with a new course for kids ages 10 to 15 entitled STAGE ACTING FOR YOUTHS beginning Saturday April 6. Instructor Robin Frome, who has an MA in Dramatic Literature and a BFA in Acting, will be the instructor for this three week course taking place on Saturdays and Tuesdays. The course includes the basics of auditioning, improvisation, solo performance, stage dialects and Shakespeare with ample opportunity for individualized attention. These concepts and skills help strengthen the young thespian so that he or she has the abilities and confidence to pursue a performance career in high school and college theater, from first audition to final curtain. Fee is $125.00 for six classes.
