Broadway Records announced today the release of MATILDA THE MUSICAL as a double record set printed on blue vinyl. It will be available exclusively on BroadwayRecords.com on December 4th, 2020. Preorders are available now for this double vinyl set of the Grammy nominated original Broadway cast recording.

Today we rewind to the opening night of Matilda on Broadway in 2012. The musical, which came straight from its Olivier Award-winning run in London, starred Bertie Carvel, Gabriel Ebert, Lesli Margherita, and Lauren Ward with Oona Laurence, Sophia Gennusa, Bailey Ryon and Milly Shapiro in the title role. Matilda would go on the run for 1554 performances at the Shubert Theatre.

THE GREEN ROOM 42, Broadway's newest intimate concert venue, will present THE SHAPIRO SISTERS, starring Milly Shapiro and Abigail Shapiro, on Friday, June 15 at 9:30 PM. In a surprise addition, the evening will now feature a special cast reunion from the hit Broadway production of Matilda. Sophia Genussa, Oona Laurence, and Bailey Ryon - who shared the tile role with Milly - will join the show as featured musical guests.

This season, Manhattan Theatre Club stunned and excited theatregoers when it was announced that Laura Linney and Cynthia Nixon, two of the most formidable females of stage and screen, would be returning to the boards in an unconventional new revival of Lillian Hellman's family drama, The Little Foxes.

In the nearly 4-year-run of the Broadway smash, Matilda the Musical, there have been five sets of Matildas. 19 girls have played the role on Broadway and, for the first time ever, all five 'generations' of Matildas performed together in one exciting concert event at Feinstein's/54 Below. These precocious young ladies performed some of their favorite songs from Broadway and beyond. For four years, they have proven 'even if you're little, you can do a lot.'

MATILDAPALOOZA: A REUNION OF BROADWAY'S MATILDAS is coming to Feinstein's/54 Below this winter.

NOW That's What I Call Music!, the world's best-selling multi-artist album series, has announced that they are set to release their first ever NOW That's What I Call Broadway! on Friday, April 29, 2016. The album will feature 18 music tracks from the original cast recordings of some of the Great White Way's most legendary shows. The album features liner notes by David Cote, theater editor for Time Out New York as well as a playwright and librettist/lyricist.

 MATILDA just celebrated its 1000th performance with who else, but creator Tim Minchin, for a special conversation at New World Stages. At the special event, Jessica Shaw of EW moderated a Q&A and Minchin performed a few Matilda tunes at the piano. BroadwayWorld was there for the special night and you can check out photos below!

Bailey Ryon, Tony Award winner for her role as MATILDA on Broadway, along with a top talent agent from Frontier Booking International (FBI), taught a four-hour musical theatre workshop at A Class Act NY, Manhattan's award-winning acting studio for kids and teens on Saturday, June 27. On last night's CONAN on TBS, composer Tim Minchin and the cast of MATILDA THE MUSICAL performed the number 'When I Grow Up'.
