Stephen Wise Free Synagogue and its Anti-Semitism Task Force will host a concert this Oct. 28 to commemorate 80 years since “Kristallnacht,” the Nazi pogrom against German Jews. The Madison String Quartet, pianist Itay Goren, and baritoneSteven Scheschareg will pay musical tribute to the Nazis' victims.

This fall, Music Director and Conductor Valery Gergiev and St. Petersburg's legendary Mariinsky Orchestra return to Carnegie Hall with two performances in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. On Wednesday, October 31 at 8:00 p.m., the program features Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker (complete concert version). The following evening, Thursday, November 1 at 8:00 p.m., Mr. Gergiev conducts the Mariinsky in Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat Major, Op. 83, featuring pianist Nelson Freire, as well as Strauss's epic tone poem Ein Heldenleben, Op. 40.

Continuing its mission to bring the best of the world's symphonic orchestras to Los Angeles, the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts will present the Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of Grammy Award-winning Music Director Valery Gergiev on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 8pm. Hailed as "Russia's musical crown Jewel" by The New York Times, the Orchestra will perform a complete Stravinsky program that includes the composer's most iconic works, including his scintillating prodigy piece, Fireworks, his strikingly original Symphony in C, and the rapturous ballet score that launched the young composer to international fame, The Firebird Suite. Young violinist Kristof Barati will join the orchestra for Violin Concerto in D Major.

Chestnut Street Singers, Philadelphia's cooperative chamber choir, is preparing an entire season of concerts that explore the struggles and the reconciliation of the human spirit. Their season theme, RESISTANCE AND RESILIENCE, examines music as a tool for liberation, and features new venues, new musical styles, and the choir's largest roster ever.

Known as the nation's foremost label launched by an orchestra and devoted exclusively to new music, BMOP/sound today announced the release of its landmark 60th album, Leon Kirchner: Music for Orchestra. Showcasing a broad range of the great, late American composer's career, the album marks the only recording of Kirchner's complete orchestral music. Led by conductor Gil Rose and performed by the intrepid musicians of the Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the recording spans over 50 years of Kirchner's life, offering superb insights into the composer and his art.

Combining the political with the poetic, William Kentridge will animate Park Avenue Armory's Wade Thompson Drill Hall with a grand, multidisciplinary work commemorating the millions of Africans who served in World War I. Co-commissioned by Park Avenue Armory, 14-18 NOW Centenary Commissions, MASS MoCA, and the Ruhrtriennale, with additional support from the Holland Festival, The Head & The Load combines music and movement, sculpture and shadow play to critically examine colonialism and how somber remnants of history continue to color our experiences today.

Highlights this season include world premieres from Steve Reich, Unsuk Chin, Christopher Rouse, and Louis Andriessen, as well as major stage productions from Tod Machover and Meredith Monk.

Mr. Dichter to perform in chamber recital with the Argus Quartet, as well as in duo piano recital with wife and long-time collaborator, pianist Cipa Dichter.

This summer, the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, called 'the crown jewel of chamber music festivals on Long Island – arguably anywhere on the East Coast” by Newsday last year, celebrates its 35th anniversary. A pre-festival ramp-up of five free pop-up concerts around the Hamptons sets the stage, Alan Alda returns to launch the season, hosting a musical portrait of Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn, and the festival features the world premieres of BCMF-commissioned works by Kenji Bunch and Paul Moravec.

Under the baton of its founding music director, George Rothman, Riverside Symphony will offer the final concert of its 37th season at Alice Tully Hall today evening, June 6 at 8:00PM. In a memorial performance, the orchestra will open the concert with Schubert's Symphony No. 8 “Unfinished” before proceeding to the world premiere of Artistic Director Anthony Korf's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra “Three Epigrams.” This 25-minute work, commissioned by The Roger Shapiro Fund for New Music, will feature local virtuoso Jesse Mills, a much in-demand artist and founding member of the Horszowski Trio. Sibelius' radiant, yet less-familiar Symphony No. 3 in C major will conclude the concert.

Pianist Misha Dichter will appear in chamber music program with violinist Mark Peskanov and cellist Julian Schwarz as part of the Bargemusic Masterworks Series, Today evening, May 26, 2018 at 6 pm and Sunday afternoon, May 27, 2018 at 4 pm, featuring the New York premieres and world premiere of Gerard Schwarz's Three Duos for violin and cello. The program will also include Schubert's Piano Trio in B-Flat Major, D. 898 (Op. 99).

Camerata Pacifica's May program opens with Debussy's "Prelude a l'apres-midi d'un faune," the composer's lush depiction of French poet Stephane Mallarme's erotic, hedonistic dreamscape in which a mythical young faun is consumed by his vain attempts to seduce two nymphs.
