The open call is part of the theatre's artist development programme, ROAR. It will focus on the early development of ideas, drafts and works-in-progress of any performance style and size and offers a week of funded research and development, culminating in a public event at the theatre on Sunday 27 October.

Three emerging playwrights - two from St. Louis and one from Chicago - have been selected to participate in a new initiative developed by Shakespeare Festival St. Louis called the Confluence Regional Writers Project. History Matters/Back to the Future has announced the recipients of its inaugural Sallie Bingham Grant, a monetary award granted to support a faculty-mentored student-directed reading series or full production of a play or plays by a historic female playwright. Four (4) $2,000 grants will be awarded, with an additional $500 stipend for the faculty advisor of each project.
