MCC Theater just announced their 2023-2024 season and we have all the details on their slate of world premiere musicals here!

The Last Match provides an intimate look into the tribulations of two tennis titans, Tim (Drew Kopas) and Sergei (Ethan Miller), who are fighting to achieve greatness both on-and-off the court. This non-chronological story inspires the audience to reflect upon existential struggles that are persistent and timeless.

Played out under the bright lights of the U.S. Open Semifinals, The Last Match pits rising Russian star, Sergei Sergeyev against American great, Tim Porter in an epic showdown that follows two tennis titans through pivotal moments in their lives both on-and-off the court. This deep and intimate exploration of humanity and motivation serves as a perfect parallel to the back-and-forth play of life’s wins and losses.

The 1st Stage production of The Last Match by Anna Ziegler features Fabiolla Da Silva, Drew Kopas (previously seen in Airness), Ethan Miller (previously seen in Swimming with Whales), and Lynette Rathnam (previously seen in The Phlebotomist). The production is directed by 1st Stage Artistic Director, Alex Levy. The Theatre World Awards were presented Monday night, June 5.  Julie Benko received the 14th Annual Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence in the Theater, and 2023 TWA Special Award Honorees, Marilyn Caserta for Outstanding Swing and Dale Badway for Outstanding Contribution to the Theatre World.  Check out photos here!

Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) and Kate Maguire (Artistic Director, CEO) have announced casting for two of its summer 2023 shows: Million Dollar Quartet, a three-time Tony Award–nominated once-in-a-lifetime musical evening back by popular demand with some of the same cast as 2017 and Photograph 51, an intriguing portrait of the race to discover the mysteries of the DNA double helix.

The Marsh Berkeley presents Josh Kornbluth’s engaging and enlightening autobiographical monologue Citizen Brain, told in Kornbluth’s inimitable humorous, intelligent, and forthright style. Inspired to provide a helping hand, Kornbluth began to immerse himself in the study of brain disease at the Global Brain Health Institute.

Sloan Foundation (Doron Weber, Vice President and Program Director) have announced the lineup for the 2023 First Light Festival, part of the EST/Sloan Project to develop plays exploring science and technology.  

TimeLine Theatre Company, acclaimed for presenting plays that explore today's social and political issues through the lens of the past, has announced its 27th season. The company's 2023-24 subscription season will launch in September with the previously announced Chicago premiere of the internationally acclaimed THE LEHMAN TRILOGY presented at Broadway In Chicago's Broadway Playhouse.
