Goodman Theatre has announced Jamal Howard (he/him) as the 2023 Michael Maggio Directing Fellow. A Chicago-based director and choreographer, Howard is the co-artistic director of New American Folk Theatre and an associate company member with TUTA Theatre.

Stage Left Theatre has announced their upcoming production of MAN OF THE PEOPLE - a new play by Dolores Díaz and directed by Anna Bahow. The show is Díaz's anticipated new work since ZULEMA, produced by Goodman Theatre in 2021.

International Voices Project has announced its return to live performances with the 12th season of play readings by playwrights from around the world, September 12 - 28, at the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, 31 W. Ohio St. Live readings are held Mondays and Wednesday with an audience talk back and Q+A with key members of that night's production immediately following the readings.

With two major revivals on stage helmed by Artistic Collective members—August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean directed by Resident Director Chuck Smith (through February 27) and Manilow Resident Director Mary Zimmerman's The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci (February 11 – March 20)—the Goodman announces several artistic updates as its 2021/2022 “Homecoming” Season continues.

Goodman Theatre announces Sydney Chatman as the recipient of the 2019 Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship, an honor reserved for early-career Chicago-based directors. Chatman will gain complete access to the artistic process at the Goodman-from early research and design through the casting and rehearsal process to the opening night. The annual fellowship was established in 2002 to honor the memory and artistry of Goodman Associate Artistic Director Michael Maggio (1951 - 2000) who directed a total of 22 productions at the Goodman and more than 60 productions around the country.

Silk Road Rising and Stage Left Theatre are pleased to announce that they are joining artistic forces to bring the world premiere of Detour Guide by Karim Nagi to Chicago.

Cast and production team were announced today for Promethean Theatre Ensemble's Joint World Premiere production BLISS (OR EMILY POST IS DEAD!) by Jami Brandli. Promethean's staging, to be directed by Anna Bahow, is part of a rolling world premiere for the play, along with San Diego's Moxie Theatre and Los Angeles's Moving Arts at Atwater Village Theatre. BLISS (OR EMILY POST IS DEAD!) is a dramedy in which four women of Greek tragedy - Clytemnestra, Medea, Antigone, and Cassandra - become New Jersey neighbors in the year 1960. The SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE called it "a hilarious, sharply written and fast-paced comedy-drama."

Haven Theatre will present its third DIRECTORS HAVEN, the company's ever-growing initiative showcasing the talents of three early career directors.

Haven Theatre is pleased to announce the line-up for its third DIRECTORS HAVEN, the company's ever-growing initiative showcasing the talents of three early career directors. This season, Kristen Johnson directs Vaclav Havel's riveting political satire THE PROTEST, Ian Martin helms Amiri Baraka's THE TOILET, a powerful look at love and empathy, and Lexi Saunders directs Rachel Dubose's sharply funny and biting new play THE DEPARTURE. The three fully-produced productions will run back-to-back in one program. DIRECTOR'S HAVEN 2017 will play October 16 - November 1, 2017 at Haven Theatre's resident home, The Den Theatre (2A), 1333 N. Silk Road Rising has announced its 15th Anniversary Season, which includes two world premieres, one U.S. premiere, and three staged reading series. Announcing the season, Founding Artistic Director Jamil Khoury said, "When a new theatre company launches its first season, all hopes are pinned on reaching a second. Then a fifth. Then a tenth season. Each one a milestone in its own right. But the tenth season is seen as a tipping point-from there, the company either begins to power down or commits to longevity.
