Jazz At MOCA To Feature Miami Big Sound Orchestra On December 27

The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is thrilled to welcome back Miami Big Sound Orchestra as part of the monthly a?oeJazz at MOCAa?? series on Friday, Dec. 27. Known as downtown Miami's resident Latin Jazz big band since 2006, Miami Big Sound Orchestra combines 21st-century big band jazz with Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music, funk and soul. Their repertoire includes original compositions by Rafael a?oeCalia?? Valencia, legendary Miami bassist/composer; Chino Nunez, GRAMMY Award-winning producer; and Jaui Schneider, former pianist/composer of Ray Barretto; along with classics from legends such as the great Mario Bauzá.

Blue Man Group is thrilled to debut a new ticket package in partnership with Andy Warhol a?" From A to B and Back Again, on view now through January 26, 2020 at the Art Institute of Chicago. The special ticket package is $79 and includes a main floor seat to Blue Man Group at Chicago's Briar Street Theatre and a FastPass admission ticket to the Art Institute including a pass to the Warhol exhibition.

MOCA North Miami Receives Highest National Recognition For Museums

Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition afforded the nation's museums. Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public.  All museums must undergo a re-accreditation review at least every 10 years to maintain accredited status.

Rodin Exhibition Announced At Frederick R. Weisman Museum

Pepperdine University's Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art will present Rodin and Women: Muses, Sirens, Loversa?"Selections from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Collections from Saturday, January 18, 2020 until Sunday, March 29, 2020. A special opening reception will be held Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 3a?"5 p.m. There is no admission charge and the public is invited to attend.

BACK TO THE BACKLOT Will Be Held at The Factory/Ultra Suede on Saturday, November 9

Back to the Backlot, a live musical comedy variety show, will bring back many of West Hollywood's famed Backlot Theatre's original showcase stars to commemorate the end of an era of one of the country's most famous venues for live entertainment. The event will mark the beginning of the preservation project known as Robertson Lane, which will re-build the venue formally known as The Factory and the famous Studio One Nightclub. The historic building opened in 1929 as the home of Mitchell Cameras, an early and important movie camera maker for the large movie studios. It was then the Studio One nightclub/Backlot Theatre from the late 1970s through the 1990s.

BOTTINO in NYC Reaches a Milestone and Begins a New Era

Now after more than two decades, the Bottino team decided to renew the lease, refreshing the décor and bringing on a new executive chef/partner. The welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant and its appeal to the art world remain the same (along with many of the long-time staff), but Executive Chef/Partner Jamie Kenyon is infusing new life into the menu to make Bottino more of a chef-driven restaurant.

IF THE DANCER DANCES Will Be Released on VOD Nov. 12

IF THE DANCER DANCES invites viewers into the intimate world of the dance studio. Stephen Petronio, one of today's leading dance-makers, is determined to help his dancers breathe new life into RainForest (1968), an iconic work by the legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham. With help from three members of the former Cunningham company, the film tracks Petronio's dancers as they strive to re-stage this great work, revealing what it takes to keep a dance – and a legacy – alive. Timed to coincide with Cunningham's centennial, IF THE DANCER DANCES is the first documentary on the subject of Cunningham's work since his passing in 2009.

Programme Announced For The London International Mime Festival

For 2020, the 44th year of London's annual festival of contemporary visual theatre, 10 overseas companies join 8 British groups, including 4 LIMF co-commissioned productions: This Time, a tender take on relationships and ageing from aerial theatre company Ockham's Razor; Romancing the Apocalypse from multi award winning dance duo Thick & Tight; Dead Good, a funny and poignant story of dying from full mask theatre company Vamos Theatre; and the story of one of showbiz's long overlooked partnerships, The Strange Tale of Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel performed by Told by an Idiot at new festival venue, the iconic Wilton's Music Hall.
