The Dallas Opera has secured the cabin and announced takeoff for Flight, the opera based on the real-life story that also inspired Steven Spielberg's The Terminal. The Dallas premiere of Jonathan Dove and April De Angelis' contemporary masterpiece opens at the Winspear Opera House on Friday, March 4, 2022.

On March 5, 2021, Seattle Opera presented Mozart’s Don Giovanni to its worldwide online audience. Stage director Brenna Corner notes that the 1964 Hamlet on Broadway directed by Richard Burton inspired her to do this black-and-white film production and use it to communicate the opera’s basic premise. Corner says she intended to emphasize the drama.

For many years, the character of Don Giovanni was celebrated as “Mozart's bad boy”—an evil but charming anti-hero of opera. But for Stage Director Brenna Corner and Maestro Lidiya Yankovskaya—the duo behind Seattle Opera's streaming Don Giovanni—there's so much more to this masterpiece than toxic masculinity.

Seattle Opera is introducing “single tickets” to its 2021 streaming productions of Don Giovanni, Flight, and Tosca—plus a bonus reprise of The Elixir of Love. This is the company’s first foray into pay-per-view streaming content, which can be enjoyed by opera lovers worldwide.

With a variety of free performances and programming to enjoy at home, the Fall Season was created with both artistic innovation-and public safety-in mind, said General Director Christina Scheppelmann.

Tomer Zvulun will direct the production, and Robert Tweten will conduct the cast, Utah Opera Chorus, and Utah Symphony.

On April 23rd, the New-York Historical Society's latest installment of the Bernard and Irene Schwartz Distinguished Speakers Series showcased An American Soldier, a two-act opera composed by Huang Ruo, featuring a libretto by David Henry Hwang, in the Robert H. Smith Auditorium at the New-York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West, New York, NY 10024.

Utah Opera continues its 2018-19 season with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute, a fairytale-like story with lessons of courage, respect, and truth. Utah Symphony Music Director Thierry Fischer together with Stage Director Paul Peers will lead five performances at the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre (50 West 200 South) on March 9 and 15 at 7:30 PM, March 11 and 13 at 7 PM, and March 17 at 2 PM.
