Ensemble Studio Theatre Announces Casting For World Premiere Of DIDO OF IDAHO

ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE (EST) (William Carden, Artistic Director, Paul A. Slee, Executive Director), EST's YOUNGBLOOD (Graeme Gillis and RJ Tolan, Co-Artistic Directors), whose past plays include the Tony Award-nominated Hand to God, and The Radio Drama Network are proud to announce casting for the World Premiere of DIDO OF IDAHO, written by Abby Rosebrock (Singles in Agriculture) and directed by Mikhaela Mahony (Noise of the Future). DIDO OF IDAHO begins previews at EST's Curt Dempster Theatre (549 W. 52nd Street, New York, NY 10019) on March 14, 2018, with an opening night set for March 22, for a limited run through April 8, 2018.  

Rodrigo Nogueira's THE IDEAL OBITUARY To Premiere At The Tank

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) will present the World Premiere of Brazillian playwright Rodrigo Nogueira's dark comedy, The Ideal Obituary at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues) March 8-24. Performances will be Thursday through Saturday at 8pm. Tickets ($20/$15 students & seniors) are available for advance purchase at www.thetanknyc.org.

Vineyard's THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE to Feature Tony Yazbeck, Irina Dvorovenko, and More

Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern announce that Irina Dvorovenko ('The Americans'), a former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, Tony Award nominees Tony Yazbeck (ON THE TOWN, FINDING NEVERLAND) and Peter Friedman (RAGTIME, The Vineyard's THE SLUG BEARERS OF KAYROL ISLAND...), and Teagle F. Bourgere (THE CRUCIBLE, A RAISIN IN THE SUN) will be featured in the world premiere of THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE, an original work fusing dance, drama and music by legendary composer and four-time Tony Award winner John Kander (CABARET, CHICAGO), Tony Award nominee playwright David Thompson (STEEL PIER; FLORA, THE RED MENACE), and five-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman (THE PRODUCERS, CONTACT). Performances will begin May 4, 2018 with opening night set for May 23. Kander, Thompson, and Stroman previously collaborated at The Vineyard on THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS.

Lincoln Center Theater's PLATFORM SERIES Continues With Joshua Harmon And Daniel Aukin

Lincoln Center Theater's Platform Series, a forum for public discussion between Lincoln Center Theater artists and interested theatergoers, continues on Wednesday, March 7th at 6pm with JOSHUA HARMON and DANIEL AUKIN, the playwright and director of LCT's production of the new play ADMISSIONS, which begins previews tomorrow, Thursday, February 15 and opens on Monday, March 12 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.

THELMA LOUISE; DYKE REMIX To Play The Tank

After a sold out run last summer in The Tank's 'Pride Fest' T and L, and their magical flying Thunderbird/badass rock band are back for a one-night-only concert reading at the Tank on Monday February 19th at 7pm. 

LAYER THE WALLS, A Puppet Show About Immigration, To Play The Tank

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) is pleased to a limited engagement of a new kids show, Layer the Walls. Performances will take place at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues) on Thursday, March 1 at 11am & 8pm, Friday, March 2 at 11am & 8pm, Saturday, March 3 at 3pm & 8pm, and Sunday, March 4 at 3pm. Tickets ($18 for adults; $10 for children) are available for advance purchase at www.thetanknyc.org. Layer the Walls is appropriate for ages 7 and up. 

The Playwrights Realm Opens Applications for Writing Fellowship and Scratchpad Series

Over the past eleven years, The Playwrights Realm, led by Founding Artistic Director Katherine Kovner and Producing Director Roberta Pereira, has continually produced work by brave new voices and expanded its commitment to providing holistic support to playwrights striving to make a life in the arts. The Realm is now accepting applications for their two popular open submission programs: the Writing Fellowship and Scratchpad Series.

Tennessee Playwrights Studio Announces 2018 Inaugural Season Fellows and Associates

Four TPS fellows - chosen from a competitive application process - will work under the direction of Kenley Smith, director of the TPS program, to develop new full-length scripts to be presented in a public reading at the Darkhorse Theatre this fall. Two Associates will serve as alternates for the program and will contribute to monthly workshop sessions in the first year and will fill two TPS fellow positions in 2019. TPS will work with actors from the Nashville community for workshops and readings.

The Tank's New Cabaret Series to Feature Underrepresented Artists

After several exciting and successful shows in the fall of 2017 (Only You, A Queer Cabaret; Love: A How (Not) To Guide; and No Way To Say Goodbye by artists Donnie and Rebecca Cianciotto, Jen Anaya and Deepali Gupta) The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) is launching a full season of monthly cabaret events for 2018! Tank-aret: A Taste of Something Different, a new cabaret series featuring underrepresented artists, will kick off on Saturday, January 20 at 10:30pm, in the 99-seat theater space at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues). Jordan Temple's THE COLOR URKEL To Play The Tank, 2/22-2/24

Kyoung's Pacific Beat to Bring PILLOWTALK to The Tank This Winter

The Tank will present the World Premiere of PILLOWTALK by Kyoung's Pacific Beat written and directed by Kyoung H. Park and presented as part of The Exponential Festival at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues), January 11-27.

Theatre of War's (FLYING) DUTCHMAN to Play The Tank

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) will present Theatre of War's experimental reconstruction of Amiri Baraka's (Flying) Dutchman, directed by Christopher Stevenson at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues) February 9-24. Performances will be Friday, February 9 at 7pm, Saturday, February 10 at 7pm, Thursday, February 15 at 7pm, Friday, February 16 at 7pm, Saturday, February 16 at 7pm, Wednesday, February 21 at 7pm, Thursday, February 22 at 7pm, Friday, February 23 at 7pm, and Saturday, February 24 at 7pm. Tickets ($25/$15 students & seniors) are available for advance purchase at www.thetanknyc.org. The performance will run approximately 45 minutes, with no intermission.
