The world premiere of the new, original musical, 'Rock and a Hard Place,' will take place at The Players Theatre on Monday, July 18th. 

? Columbia Ballet Collaborative (CBC) is pleased to present a program of six original and restaged works for its upcoming spring performances. Founded in 2007 by five professional ballet dancers enrolled at Columbia University, CBC is comprised of students from all of the University's undergraduate colleges and affiliates.

On Friday, September 25th Pipeline Theatre Company opened their World Premiere of Andrew Farmer's haunting play THE GRAY MAN. The production, directed by Andrew Neisler (Clown Bar) will run at Walker Space (46 Walker Street between Broadway and Church Street) through October 18th. On March 18, 2015, I had the opportunity to see the dress rehearsal of Ailey II's program A at the Joyce Theater. This young company, under Troy Powell, Artistic Director, since July 1, 2012, only the 2nd director since this group was formed in 1974, was energized and fully loaded.

n a revival of Alice Walker's bold novel The Color Purple, the award winning musical opens The Milwaukee Rep's 2014-2015 theater season reprising the WOW in entertainment that began with Ragtime in their 60th season. Walker's Pulitzer Prize winning 1982 story arrives in a re-adaptation of the 1985 film and 2005 Broadway musical redesigned for the Quadracci Powerhouse stage featuring a superb cast, which after almost three hours, "fills the room like a sweet perfume… restoring a belief in trust and tenderness."

For two weeks, audiences will experience 14 performances featuring two dynamic programs, which come on the heels of a successful North American tour to over 30 cities and an array of critically acclaimed performances in Germany and France. Tickets starting at $49 are on sale now.

The Broadway Experience returned for a sixth summer program at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center from July 29th - August 11th. With 22 professional educators from the Broadway community, TBE offered over 60 classes, workshops, lectures, and a performance based second week. TBE also launched a new Pre-Professional level for college age students and invited Sierra Boggess as guest speaker. Sierra spoke about her life on and off the stage, and took the time to answer questions and offer advice and inspiration. Scroll down for photos!
