Off Broadway theatre company The Flea has just announced that it will pause production activity to 'to transform [their] institutional culture and producing model.'

South Coast Repertory Artistic Director David Ivers and Managing Director Paula Tomei today announced the lineup for the 2020 Pacific Playwrights Festival (PPF). The annual showcase of new works, part of the theatre's new-play development arm, The Lab@SCR, includes two world-premiere productionsa?"The Scarlet Letter by Kate Hamill and I Get Restless by Caroline V. McGrawa?"and five staged readings. PPF runs April 24-26, with morning, afternoon and evening events. Single tickets and value-priced ticket packages are now on sale at www.scr.org.

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 40 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2020 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 15 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Choreographer Gabrielle Revlock presents two works, SEX TAPE and Nuptial Blitz, January 8-12, 2020 (7pm Wed-Sat, 3pm Sun) at The Flea, a staple of New York City's downtown performing arts scene located at 20 Thomas Street in Tribeca. The Flea Theater presents the World Premiere of THE INVENTION OF TRAGEDY,the centerpiece of MAC WELLMAN: PERFECT CATASTROPHES, a festival of plays by the influential vanguard playwright. Now in previews, performances run through October 14 at The Flea (20 Thomas Street in Tribeca, between Church and Broadway, three blocks north of Chambers) with opening set for September 21.

The Flea Theater is proud to announce the addition of six new Resident Directors to its intensive practicum for early-career directors. Rebecca Aparicio, Jake Beckhard, Daniella Caggiano, Lauren DeLeon, Will Steinberger, and Raz Golden will join the current group of Resident Directors.

Play on! features 39 readings of new, work-in-progress translations of Shakespeare's plays into contemporary modern English by some of today's most exciting playwrights-May 29-June 30 at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater at CSC (136 E. 13th Street). In 2015, Oregon Shakespeare Festival launched an ambitious 39-play, three-year commissioning project, Play on!, tasking 36 playwrights-more than half of whom were women and playwrights of color, each paired with a dramaturg-to translate Shakespeare's canon in celebration of the enduring impact of the Bard's work. Supported by a generous grant from the Hitz Foundation and inspired by long-time patron Dave Hitz's passion for Shakespeare, the project was and continues to be led by Lue Morgan Douthit. Red Bull Theater today announced the cast for the next REVELATION READING, Amy Freed's Shrew!, directed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall, would include: Arnie Burton, Andrea Cirie, Carson Elrod, Mel Johnson Jr., John Pankow, Reg Rogers, Danny Scheie, Susannah Rogers, and more to be announced.  This will take place on Monday May 13th at 7:30pm at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson Streets).

New York Deaf Theatre (NYDT) closes their 39th season with an accessible performance of EVERY BRILLIANT THING by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe. This production marks James Caverly's directorial debut in New York City. Previews begin Saturday, April 27, and Opening night is on Sunday, April 28 at 7:00pm

Provocateur Thomas Bradshaw revisits his incendiary 2008 play SOUTHERN PROMISES in a new production helmed by The Flea's Artistic Director, Niegel Smith. SOUTHERN PROMISES begins previews Monday, March 11 with opening night slated for Sunday, March 24.

Florencia Lozano joins The Muse Project for their inaugural Tea Time event on October 21st at 5:30pm at The Flea Theater in Tribeca. Tea Times are a one-of-a-kind Muse pilot program, and October 21st's Tea Time will cap off a week of exciting presentations from some of New York's most dynamic women performers (Musings: a collection of Mini Muse presentations). During Tea Times, a veteran stage actress (Ms. Lozano) discusses her experiences building her career. The Muse Project's Artistic Director, Jocelyn Kuritsky, will lead the discussion with Ms. Lozano. A q&a with attendees and tea (and cookies!) and networking to follow. This event is open to all, and it is also a special opportunity for women actors to network with Ms. Lozano, each other, and to seek insight and support.

The Muse Project, in association with The Tank, will present Musings: a collection of Mini Muse presentations at The Flea Theater as a part of their Anchor Partnership. Musings showcases the exciting, fresh, paradigm-shifting storytelling that New York's leading actresses have developed through intensive workshops. The Muse Project gives women performers the time, space, and opportunity to experiment with and explore their fantasy projects. Veteran performer Lynn Cohen will be investigating previously unexplored terrain with collaborator Lewis Black in his piece Dottie's Home. Recent Lucille Lortel nominee Vanessa Aspillaga and Obie winner Jessica Frances Dukes, alongside acclaimed directors Jose Zayas and Seret Scott, will dig into long hungered-for solo work.

Tiffany Mills Company presents the world premiere of Blue Room, an evening-length work that explores connections and boundaries created by various modes of human interaction. Performances are Today-Saturday, September 12-15, at 7pm, at The Flea Theater in Tribeca.
