Submissions Now Open for Red Bull Theater's SHORT NEW PLAY FESTIVAL 2023

Red Bull Theater is now accepting submissions for their ANNUAL SHORT NEW PLAY FESTIVAL. Six brand new 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes inspired by this year’s theme: “Forbidden Love” will be selected through an open submission process.

Baryshnikov Arts Center Presents The New York Premiere Of Ashwini Ramaswamy's LET THE CROWS COME, April 13-15

Baryshnikov Arts Center will present the New York premiere of Minneapolis-based choreographer and dancer Ashwini Ramaswamy’s Let the Crows Come, an experimental Bharatanatyam work, and a “Best of Dance 2021” selection by The Washington Post. Performances will take place Wednesday–Friday, April 13–15, at 8pm, at BAC’s Jerome Robbins Theater, 450 West 37th Street, in Manhattan.

The Wooster Group's THE MOTHER to Play Return Engagement February 2022

 Following a sold-out run this fall, The Wooster Group’s new production of Bertolt Brecht’s The Mother, directed by Elizabeth LeCompte, will return to New York for a special limited engagement. Performances will run February 18 to March 12, 2022, at The Performing Garage (33 Wooster Street).

The Hopkins Center Announces Winter & Spring Season

The Hopkins Center for the Arts (the Hop) today announced an updated lineup of winter and spring arts experiences, from music concerts by Brentano String Quartet, Anaïs Mitchell and Amir ElSaffar; an immersive audio-visual installation by Ash Fure and Adam Fure and theatrical works by SITI Company, Roger Guenveur Smith and george emilio sanchez.

Drummer/Composer Tomas Fujiwara's Triple Double 'March' Out This March

Look at it one way and you might see two horn/guitar/drum trios; turn slightly and suddenly it becomes three paired artists taking their shared instruments in radically different directions. Despite the unusual instrumentation of the ensemble, however, Triple Double is at its core a group of six distinctive individuals, each among the most innovative and singular voices in contemporary creative music – drummers Tomas Fujiwara and Gerald Cleaver, guitarists Mary Halvorson and Brandon Seabrook, and trumpeter Ralph Alessi and cornet player Taylor Ho Bynum. 

The Wooster Group's THE MOTHER Announces Two-Week Extension

 The Wooster Group’s new production of Bertolt Brecht’s The Mother, directed by Elizabeth LeCompte, has been extended by two weeks. Performances will now run through November 20 at The Performing Garage (33 Wooster Street), with an official opening on October 26, 2021.

Amir ElSaffar Announces New Album 'Rivers Of Sound - The Other Shore'

Amir ElSaffar – who leads five ensembles and has released seven albums over the past 16 years – has earned acclaim for being, in the words of All About Jazz, “a virtuoso on the horn, but also an imaginative bandleader, expanding the vocabulary of the trumpet and, at the same time, the modern jazz ensemble.”

The Wooster Group's Production of THE MOTHER to Premiere at Wiener Festwochen in June

The Wooster Group will premiere its new production of Bertolt Brecht’s The Mother at Vienna’s international Wiener Festwochen from June 8-17, 2021. It tells a story of a poor, uneducated Russian mother’s journey to revolutionary action. The play premiered in Berlin in 1932 and was the last of Brecht’s plays to open before the Nazis seized power. 

Hourly Schedule Announced for Bang on a Can Marathon

On its first four live online Marathons in 2020 (May 3, June 14, August 1, and October 18) Bang on a Can presented a total of 95 performances, including 31 world premieres of new commissions and over 130 composers and performers.
