California Symphony Receives League Of American Orchestras Grant For New Adult Education Classes

Highlighting the groundswell of innovation occurring at smaller-budget orchestras and youth orchestras across the country, the California Symphony is just one of seventeen orchestras that have received $30,000 American Orchestras' Futures Fund grants from the League of American Orchestras, made possible with the generous support of the Ann & Gordon Getty Foundation.

UMS Announces 2018-19 Season

The University Musical Society (UMS), under the leadership of President Matthew VanBesien, today announces its 140th season in 2018-19 with an initial slate of 40 performances and events. One of the country's most acclaimed performing arts presenters, UMS honors its past by showcasing respected ensembles and performers with whom it has enjoyed rich relationships, and fully embraces the future as initiator, incubator, and accelerator for innovative new works and projects. San Diego Symphony Announces 2018-2019 Season Featuring First Concerts Conducted by Rafael Payare as Music Director Designate, 14 Works New to San Diego Symphony Repertoire,

California Symphony Season Finale Includes Brahms, Sibelius, and A World Premiere

California Symphony presents season finale SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek on Sunday May 6th at 4pm. The concert sees Music Director Donato Cabrera reunite with internationally acclaimed and award-winning pianist Haochen Zhang, who performs the grand and virtuosic Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2. Also on the program is Sibelius' Symphony No. 3, plus the debut of Composer-in-Residence Katherine Balch's first commission for the California Symphony, like a broken clock. This is the final concert in the Symphony's 2017-18 Larger Than Life season, which has seen the California Symphony continue to buck industry trends, expanding audiences by 16% and increasing subscription sales by 14% over last year.

Mozart Requiem Comes to Walnut Creek This March

California Symphony presents two performances of MOZART REQUIEM at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek on Saturday March 17th at 8pm and Sunday March 18th at 4pm. This is the third of three concert sets in the Symphony's 2017-18 season to offer patrons a Saturday evening option in Walnut Creek, catering to rising demand for professional grade performances within easy reach of discerning East Bay consumers of culture and the arts.  Diablo Regional Arts Association is the presenting sponsor of the California Symphony's Saturday night concert series, with media support provided by BARTable.

Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Announces 2018-19 Season

 Fresh off a year that saw five weeks of successful international tour dates and two Grammy nominations, t he Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra ( CSO ) and Music Director Louis Langre e announced the Orchestra's highly - anticipated 2018 - 19 season at the recently renovated and widely celebrated Cincinnati Music Hall. In addition to the 20 - concert program subscription s eason, the CSO will present a one - night - only, all - orchestral gala performance on September 22 with Mr. Langree on the conducting podium that kicks off the fall arts season in Cincinnati. This gala concert is an all - French program that includes audience favorites by Ravel, Debussy, and Dukas. The 2018 - 19 season not only showcases great orchestral repertoire, exciting new works, and acclaimed artists from around t h e globe but also features seven CSO musicians as featured soloists.

Jeffrey Kahane to Conduct, Perform with Alisa Weilerstein and the New York Philharmonic

Jeffrey Kahane will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17, from the piano; conduct Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, with cellist Alisa Weilerstein as soloist; and conduct Haydn's Symphony No. 98, from the fortepiano, Today, January 4, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m.; Saturday, January 6 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, January 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Tomorrow's New York Philharmonic Open Rehearsal Is Cancelled

The New York Philharmonic's Open Rehearsal scheduled to take place Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 9:45 a.m. is cancelled due to a change in the rehearsal schedule, which was impacted by predicted winter weather. The concert taking place that evening at 7:30 p.m. at David Geffen Hall will go on as scheduled. Refunds for the Open Rehearsal will be issued to the original method of payment within seven to ten business days. Tickets also include free, family-friendly activities in the lobby starting an hour before the show.

Playwright Bryna Turner Among Lincoln Center's 2018 Emerging Artists

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts announced today the 2018 class of Emerging Artists, recognizing diverse talents, from a choreographer bridging the worlds of classical Indian and contemporary dance to one of the new faces of indie film to world-class musicians. Each recipient was nominated by one of Lincoln Center's 11 resident organizations, acknowledging his or her extraordinary talent and budding career.
