Salsipuedes es una tragicomedia que narra dos historias que corren paralelas: la de los amantes que se buscan y se encuentran de una manera que no hubieran querido hallarse, y la de la isla del título que se encuentra bajo el poder de un dictador. A lo largo de la ópera juegan una con la otra. De esta manera se refiere Luis Martín Solís a la obra en tres actos de Daniel Catán, con libreto en español del escritor cubano Eliseo Alberto, en colaboración con el mexicano Francisco Hinojosa y el propio Catán.

Ontario Trillium Foundation Grow Grant Enables Students To Experience One Little Goat Theatre Company's PLAY: A (MINI) HISTORY OF THEATRE FOR KIDS

Thanks to a $107,900 two-year Grow grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation that was awarded in 2018, 'Toronto's enterprising One Little Goat Theatre Company' (New York Times) is bringing the company's acclaimed play for young audiences, PLAY: A (Mini) History of Theatre for Kids, to over 17,000 elementary school students in over 100 Toronto District School Board Model Schools for Inner Cities at no charge to the schools.

One Little Goat Theatre Company Announces School Tour Performance PLAY: A (MINI) HISTORY OF THEATRE FOR KIDS

Thanks to a $107,900 two-year Grow Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, 'Toronto's enterprising One Little Goat Theatre Company' (New York Times) is bringing the company's acclaimed play for young audiences, PLAY: A (MINI) HISTORY OF THEATRE FOR KIDS, to over 17,000 elementary school students in over 100 Toronto District School Board Model Schools for Inner Cities at no charge to the schools. This current school tour builds on the success of One Little Goat's PLAY tour from two years ago, supported by an OTF Seed Grant, which reached 10,000 Model School students. One Little Goat performs at Joyce Public School, 26 Joyce Parkway, North York, Ontario, today, April 26 at 1pm.

WCSU Stages Reimagined, Immersive Musical UBU

The Western Connecticut State University Department of Theatre Arts will present 'Ubu - An Absurdist Immersive Gran Guignol Musical' in eight performances from Feb. 26 through March 4 in the Studio Theatre of the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university's Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.

Kneehigh close the year in December with their deliriously unhinged improvised promenade musical Kneehigh's Ubu - a singalong satire.

This August, Stairwell Theater presents a workshop showing of William Shakespeare's 'Romeo & Juliet'. Set in a decaying contemporary society where team sports inform law, justice, and politics - can love defeat tribalism and break the game before the final buzzer? When does competition turn into violence? An athletic ensemble will tackle Shakespeare's best loved tragedy through a unique physical vocabulary informed by dance, team sports and original music.

All artists will present scenes based on the original play by Alfred Jarry. The evening is hosted and curated by Drama of Works.

Paula Vogel Hosts One of a Kind Playwriting Workshop

National UBU ROI Bake-Off - a one-of-a-kind playwriting workshop by Paula Vogel, open to participation to the general public - will take place on Presidents' Day, Monday, February 19 when hundreds of aspiring and accomplished writers across the country will present their own short works based on Alfred Jarry's 1896 revolutionary drama UBU ROI, about a despot king awash in murder, genocide, a war with Russia and the revolt of his own countrymen and women. Paula Vogel is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE, and had her first Broadway production last season with her Tony Award-winning work, INDECENT.

ATC Announces 2018 Season Of The Shakespeare Underground

The Plagiarists to Return with 'UBU II'

Were we prepared for the first sound queue of tonight's cultured night of theater? No. Were we pleasantly surprised to see actress Jessica Saxvik as Mrs. Ubu contort and screw her face into all the looks we imagine ourselves to possess the morning after a midnight run to Taco Bell? Yes. Are we wondering just where sound designer Brendan Monte got his source material for all the bodily functions we heard through the night (and maybe a little concerned for his physical health)? Probably. And let's face it are we also concerned for the mental health of all the minds involved in crafting Ubu II: Electric Boog-Ubu)? Obviously, but none of these questions stifled our enjoyment of this laugh a minute sequel to Alfred Jarry's slightly better known Ubu Roi.
