West End shows will find themselves in good company later this month. Company returns to the London stage in a reworked version by Marianne Elliott, set in the modern day and featuring gender swaps of characters. Jonathan Bailey take on the roles of Paul and Jamie respectively. Sharing their experiences of Sondheim, the two talk rehearsals, what could drive them crazy, and throw down the gauntlet to Hamilton!

The upcoming production of Company in the West End features non-traditional casting in terms of gender. The protagonist, usually Bobby, a man afraid of marriage, is now Bobbie, a woman. The production's director, Marianne Elliott, chatted with The Guardian about the decisions made in the show, working with Sondheim, and more.

The complete cast was announced today for Marianne Elliott's highly anticipated new production of George Furth and Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY which opens at the Gielgud Theatre from 26 September 2018.

Big news came from the Company Twitter when they revealed that the already innovative casting will feature the musical's first same-sex couple. Jonathan Bailey takes on the somewhat newly created role of Jamie (formerly Amy), the character blessed (or cursed) with the unforgettable song 'Not Getting Married Today.' Alex Gaumond will play his soon-to-be husband Paul.

Matthew Warchus directs Charles Dickens' timeless classic A Christmas Carol in a joyous new adaptation by Jack Thorne, starring Rhys Ifans as Ebenezer Scrooge, opening at The Old Vic on 29 November with previews from 20 November.

The star cast of New Songs 4 New Shows includes: Douglas Hodge (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Gemma Whelan (Game Of Thrones), Haydn Gwynne (Threepenny Opera), jazz supremo Ian Shaw, Alex Gaumond (We Will Rock You), sublime tenor Hal Cazalet and singer/songwriter Gwyneth Herbret (The A-Z Of Mrs. P).

As previously announced, Anne Archer (Fatal Attraction; Patriot Games; Clear and Present Danger) will return to the UK to star as 'Jane Fonda', having first developed the role at the Edinburgh Festival in 2014. Archer was last seen on the London stage making her West End debut as 'Mrs Robinson' in The Graduate at the Gielgud Theatre in 2001, to critical acclaim.
